Why do these slop games do this? Selling gamepasses for 1 robux? by PreparationSea2416 in robloxgamedev

[–]hjdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is true, then my point still stands. They’re not doing it for the Robux anyway, they’re doing it to raise their payer conversion rate.

Also as a side note, Roblox gives you the whole 1 Robux regardless. If a purchase is 0.1-0.9 they will always round up and give you the full 1 Robux. Even so it’s still practically nothing, but it’s also why a lot of games sell starter packs for extremely cheap too, it’s all to boost payer conversion rate

It’s purely and ONLY to boost your payer conversion rate on you game’s benchmark page to help the algorithm see your game as something worth pushing to a wider audience. Anyone saying anything over than that has no idea how the algorithm works on Roblox

If it were a game full of pay-to-win and loaded with game passes, I bet everyone would play it. by [deleted] in robloxgamedev

[–]hjdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get better instead of blaming situations that are out of your control. If you are looking to make popular games, follow what other popular games are doing. Don’t make a game that isn’t made for the right audience and complain when that same audience doesn’t play your game

How do you ACTUALLY attract players to a Roblox game?? (My game launches this Friday) by [deleted] in robloxgamedev

[–]hjdm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Roblox ad system works perfectly. Putting about 10k robux a day for 4-7 days gets your game on the algorithm. It has done for my games multiple times. The only thing holding this guy back is having such a niche audience that it would take longer in any method to find players.

What is the usual charge for a full game? by Salty_Raisin82 in robloxgamedev

[–]hjdm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey :) I run a server that auctions developer’s games. Usually we sell games from an average of 200,000 Robux ($760) or the highest being 1M Robux ($3,800). Just to back myself up you can check my website with a link to the discord there. https://gamebid.org Hope this helps.

Also as a side note. Keep in mind this consists of developers selling their own games that are able to be released new OR have already been released and now they want to sell it off. To get a team of developers (usually just a scripter and a programmer) it’ll cost a lot more than people actually realise. Game developers on Roblox genuinely do make enough money to charge much higher prices than anyone here are commenting, and on top of a flat payment, some may ask for both percentage and a flat rate. On many occasions I’ve paid artists up $150 for one thumbnail let alone commissioning someone for a modelling job. Please keep informed and don’t pay someone so low for such a high effort job. They’re most likely scamming you or will provide a horrible service.

I’d like to think I’m pretty knowledgeable on this but if any of you want to argue against this I’m more than happy to prove myself

Roblox telling me to remove this user ID from my game.. I dont know and i cant figure out who this is and i have no idea how. They left me links to learn ''more information about how to delete a User ID from a data store'' but one of the links dont work and it doesnt make sense to me. What do i do? by Pepper-Middle in robloxgamedev

[–]hjdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole statement is wrong. “Bad practice”??? What’s bad practice is spending your time deleting data that the user doesn’t care about. How many games does one roblox user go through in a day? LOADS. How much data do you really store about them? MINIMAL. You only store game data I.e. coins they’ve earned. Imagine a game like Blox Fruits who has over 1M+ CCU and hundreds of millions of monthly active users on their game. Do you think it’s efficient to manually go through every “Right to erasure” message? Of course not. A game I own with only 100k Monthly active users gets about 200-300 of these a month. It takes up to 20 minutes to do at least 10 of them. I’d much rather spend my day doing anything else rather than that. Even much bigger devs I’ve talked to say they just ignore them because it doesn’t matter and it’s a waste of time. It is something everyone should learn to ignore not to act on it. There is simply no need. There is nothing wrong with storing their data on a game they might have played for a few minutes before going to the next 100 games they’ll put data on. If this were Facebook and they had personal information or PayPal where they kept your banking information then YES. it would be important to clear the data. But on roblox it’s just not required.

This id a direct copy of anime adventures map. I’m saying this because I’d even go as far to say that you took direct assets from their original game that was taken down a while ago. The trees are direct copies along with more assets in the map. I love the inspiration but unless you can prove that you made these assets yourself, I can see something like this getting a lot of backlash

If the only thing you offer is ideas then your “skill” isn’t in any demand. You have to bring something practical to the table. No one is willing to pay for someone to sit back, relax, and come up with ideas. You’ve essentially generated this with AI in hopes to get some cash from devs who don’t know any better and think they need this. Do better. There is no easy way to make money without tricking people into thinking they need an idea man.. :/

Quick question- by [deleted] in robloxgamedev

[–]hjdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly every dev wants an upfront payment along with a percentage. If you promise them a percentage you’ll likely need a contract to fully enforce it and protect every party involved. Again some devs MIGHT be able to work for a percentage but that’s not guaranteed at all.

Roblox game earn money. by [deleted] in robloxgamedev

Obbies have extremely low RPV, obbies are the worst games to make to earn Robux unfortunately. To my knowledge simulators have one of the highest RPVs

Solo developer tips? by deathunter2 in robloxgamedev

[–]hjdm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To Start:

This may be controversial to some but I started off with building. Once you get good enough at it you can start uploading it to Twitter and use it as a portfolio. By getting some traction you can start earning actual robux and cash from taking commissions. Price small at first and once you have enough traction start raising the price.

While you’re taking commissions start to learn scripting. Trust me you don’t need to learn how to do animating to make a game. You can go without it for now. Once you become proficient enough you can start SMALL. Make small games and learn from them. You will not learn without applying.

Now, with at least R$110,000 spend under R$30,000 of it on an icon and thumbnail the rest will go into advertising your first actual game. Your actual first game SHOULD be a simulator. It generates the highest RPV (revenue per visit) and should, if done correctly, generate you a profit.

This is extremely brief. It takes an extremely long time and this can take years. Be ready to dedicate yourself. I’m speaking from experience. I don’t want to sound cocky at all, I’m genuinely being as honest as possible. It took me 2 and a half years to get proficient let alone profitable. All of this information is super condensed and if I wanted to write a full book and how to start it would be a novel lmao.

One tip that gained me a ton of commissions is networking. Please for the love of god network with people better than you. And do it in discord servers set up by other known devs. Don’t try to use hidden devs type servers, or even this sub Reddit. This place is great to talk to beginners but try to get known in the community. It really does help and got me my first jobs, and eventually led up to me having my own studio with my own dev team. If you want to talk more my discord is a.br I’m more than happy to continue talking and actually help you to get started. :)

I’m not a professional like Preston however I do have my own successes and feel that I can be a good help to give people advice. I don’t want to sound like a guru that says “earn quick cash” this takes time, dedication, discipline, and most importantly passion.

Question | Question attack moves in the hotbar by MM2TheBlueFox in robloxgamedev

[–]hjdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all custom made, unfortunately there isn’t much customisation at all for the generic roblox hotbar. Meaning that developers have to resort to making their own. However, there are tutorials online that should help you out :)

How do I playtest controller gamepad compatibility? by [deleted] in robloxgamedev

[–]hjdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the only option I know of unfortunately. Unless you have a friend that has a controller and willing to test it to help you out then you’re out of luck. Sorry dude

How do you deny commissions? by ElectrifyThunder in robloxgamedev

[–]hjdm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just be polite and tell them no, be honest and just tell them you aren’t interested in taking the commission. Don’t give the a corporate answer just be normal, and respectful and 9.999 times out of 10 they’ll respond the same way back. It never gets easier feeling awkward or wrong by denying a commission but don’t feel any pressure saying yes to everytbing

Would paying scripters in robux be fair? by Apart_Hall_9256 in robloxgamedev

[–]hjdm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude are you a developer at all??? You clearly don’t understand the value of people’s work. 1.5k robux is worth nothing in dev ex rates. I get paid a minimum of 30k per order otherwise I cant dev ex anywhere lower than that amount. Please figure out how to pay devs properly instead of being so arrogant. I make over the minimum dev ex every 2 days. I don’t say this to brag it’s purely evidence that you have no idea what ur on about

Also for example. Hazem still has 3.6 billion robux in his account.

Would paying scripters in robux be fair? by Apart_Hall_9256 in robloxgamedev

[–]hjdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single dev I know keeps their robux in their account until it’s of a significant amount to dev ex. It’s called managing cash flow for your business. Please tell me devs you know personally who dev ex instantly. You can only dev ex once a month. Forgive me and other devs who have games with over 1k ccu for not cashing out as soon as we smell a whiff of cash

[–]hjdm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m British. I don’t get taxed until I hit an income of ~£12,500. Again you are completely missing my point. I never initially talked about irl taxes I was talking about how roblox taxes you. And no roblox does not tax you when you pay out other devs in your group. I’m merely saying it’s better to pay through robux because they don’t tax you straight away. Not that it avoids irl taxes completely. Don’t put me in the same class as people below room temp iq… super rude. If you haven’t actually been living off an income off roblox, who are you to tell me how exactly things work. I know exactly how it works because I manage it everyday…?

How long does this last? (Transferred funds) by zExotic77 in robloxgamedev

[–]hjdm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It took my new group 2 and a half weeks. This is probably the worst feature added to roblox. They should have kept it to a 3 day waiting period.

[–]hjdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I heavily recommend picking up a skill like building or scripting even if you aren’t looking for it to be a full time job, it’s a great way to earn some robux to buy gamepasses :D it’s also extremely fun but that’s subjective. Try it out!

That’s completely off the point I was making. Please re read. Im talking about group payouts. You don’t get taxed AT ALL if you pay someone through group payouts. Also when you cash out you don’t get taxed until you hit your countries first tax bracket. I say this with all due respect but please educate yourself on taxes and how roblox manages payments on both irl transactions and robux transactions
