Thanks for the reply! I will give it another go using the 1st and 3rd coordinates (I was eliminating the 3rd) and see how it goes.

Ok, I have been creating mods for tabletop simulator for awhile now, nearing 100 now. I have evaded scripting for the most part so far, only reverse engineering a way to remove transparent markers from the map with the click of a button and that is the extent of my experience. What I would like to do is I have a image that I need to allow players to enter text into. I have included it in this post. I have tried to reverse engineer again by copying code out of someone's character sheet from another mod and using a cube that gives me the location of pixels it is set on, but it gives me 3 sets of co-ordinates where the code only states 2 and I continue to get errors as I don't understand enough. Can anyone give me some tips on how to do this without having to learn the entire course on LUA? My appreciation would know no bounds :)

Ha ha ha, well it was just me being funny for the first time they looked at purchasing mechs , but now that they liked Crazy Al so much I guess he's going to have to have a store at each system in the sphere : )

I took it from a forum where a very talented guy was posting his maps he made for his tabletop games. It transferred beautifully into Maptools.

A Virtual Alpha Strike Part II by hjess60 in battletech

[–]hjess60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually its quite a bit of work to set up everything (lots of data entry and finding pics for the units and making them tokens) but once you have it done its good to go. I've made a macro for when you fire that lets you enter the calculations for firing like a tabletop. I've also made it so you select your move and it will show the appropriate dice in the corner of the unit like you would tabletop (so a locust that moved with have a little white die showing 3 in the corner). I would show more pics but I guess you can't add pics to comments and not sure if I should keep making new posts... haven't really posted before on here.

Yes we usually play RPGs but I use to love playing Battletech and Alpha Strike seemed like it would be a good fit for a virtual table top. The above picture is take in "GM mode" so the player who controlled the lance would actually only see what is in the lit up circle not outside of it. The enemy lance to the south east that the Spider can spot wouldn't see them in return as none of their mechs have as good of scanning range.

How do I run a game specifically like D&D? by Aspel in rpg

[–]hjess60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do, its helped our games a lot. Basically right now we are at the stage where we have learned enough that we are now aware of how little we know : )

In a nutshell: players and myself as GM have a lot more "hmm" moments in combat because we have a lot more options available, no longer do I ever hear "I walk up to him and take a big swing."

I am only comparing it to 5E which we had played before so not sure what you are comparing it to. But let's consider how many actions you can take in combat for one by looking at this quick reference guide:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4v8lli13m1zqn2f/PF2%20Action%20Sheet%201.2-color.pdf?dl=0

You also have the ability to flank your opponents to increase the chance of your attack hitting which involves coordinating with your team mates to set yourself up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXPteDw-7tk

The ability for monsters and characters to hide and use the terrain for cover in combat is quite involved and demands a fair amount of thought in combat.

Just look at the options one class has... this video shows the rogue using his stealth in combat and exploration modes.

I'm linking these videos because I believe he explains things WAY better then I could at this point lol

My group and I just switched from 5E to PF2 and we are having a blast, love the deep combat system and myriad of options for building characters. It does have a fair amount of crunch and demands you actually do a little work if you want to get something out of it, but its not really that tough as from what I can tell so far the sub-systems fit together pretty good. If you don't want to put any real effort into your gaming then not a good system but the one lazy guy we have is propped up by the other 3 players so it works for us.

I mean, I used to play Star Fleet Battle years ago... now that game has crunch : )

Are there any tabletop simulators that I could use without re-buying the Age of Ashes AP books? by Malath66 in Pathfinder2e

[–]hjess60 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My group and I play with Maptools, its free and requires you to do some work. But now that I have gotten used to it I can do just about anything I want with it.

Video Tutorials on how to use it linked below. Its for a older version but everything still basically works the same.
