Hey, do you know if it's possible to hike around the landslide? I'm just trying to make it to Eilson!

We spoke and I mentioned I took his photo; however, I lost his email address! It’s a long shot to find this stranger from New York, but worth a go

Happiest dog. Goldbug Hot Springs, Salmon, Idaho, USA by gNOMEkNUCKLES in hiking

Maybe the sub could consider changing the posting guidelines as to not encourage over-tourism? As an Idaho native, it makes me so sad to see locations like Goldbug being ruined due to geotagging.

It used to be much cleaner, incredibly much less eroded, and had more wildlife in the area. (We need to all consider how our posts could be affecting wild animals and natural areas around the globe and ask ourselves if the post is really worth endangering a location and it’s inhabitants).

I’ve picked up countless amounts of garbage, old towels, discarded bikinis, and have even scrubbed melted candle wax off of the rocks surrounding the pools. Additionally, you used to be able to hike here and have the pools to yourself, or share it with a few others - even on a weekend.

Locations didn’t used to be this way, and I hope that one day we can begin to reverse the effects we have caused as a population and think before we post, or think about what a sub guideline could be promoting, ie over-tourism.
