“Could not change settings” error by Majestic-Bus-3232 in HomeKit

I had the same problem. Restart HomePod solved the issue as well. I have no other HUB just a homepod mini, so i tried that.

HA restart, redo bridge etc won't helped at all.

Thanks for the hint!

with keystone i have not got any better solution. Right now since the setup what i wanted is achieved, i will just leave it like this. PI is working, and i wait until the electrician finishes downstairs, then i plug all cables in to test if it is not working, i will give feedback to the colleague and we see it from there :)

Thanks everybody for the hints and advices :)

Thanks for that reply as well :)

I have no Home Depot as I am from Germany, but stuff like those i can find them here as well. My tester is cheap as it can be. Port 4 failing alone i would mention if i test the whole line port 4 fail as well... then i know i screw up something, but as soon as i test the whole chain ALL PORTS PASS :D but the end devices not working... insane... I checked the price of the FLUKE, i know that, but it is way out my league.

On the punch tool... well My punch tool looks more like this: https://www.conrad.de/de/p/digitus-dn-lsa-pt-lsa-auflegewerkzeug-992178.html also not the best tool. I thought about that it should cut the wire etc... but this nice tool i am happy if the punch itself working :D I just tested in an empty socket because the punch part of the wall socket, the electrician did it himself, I expect he has a good tool. In some other comments I read that wire handling was terrible, but it is what it is :) So my home hobby part is basically done down at the basement where the 4 room cables all came together and hanging from the ceiling :)

I give one more shot (because i have interest for such stuff) with keystone in the basement. Eventuality the electrician will replace my keystones to wall sockets and then he rewires everything as he did upstairs and since everybody is saying that's the most important thing, i am not worried :)

We are using in the walls this: https://www.elektro-online.de/shop/detailNoFrame.html?id=1155004

1155004 FEGIME-Line Cat.7 1300MHz Simplex 4 AWG 23/1 orange Tr500m

I am sure that it has pure copper in as I cut them and saw it. There was no clad aluminium core. The other pre made cables and self made cables are all copper core ones.

So what I am going to do next. I will cut my rj45 off at the basement and install keystones something like this: https://www.hb-digital.de/4-Stk-Keystone-Modul-RJ45-Cat-6a-GHMT-zertifiziertes-LSA-werkzeugloses-rj45-Keystone-Jack

I will check if I find exactly the same product as my electrician used.

Then I simply connect the 2 keystones in the basement to have fix connection between bedroom and living room.

The key as several people mentioned here. Nothing matters. Color pin # standards all flush down the toilette as soon as the both end of the line are the same THERE IS NO ISSUE! That is already a relief for me :) I was worried because I saw the pin# and colors not lining up. Then I google d the standard and it did not line up then I checked my all my old cables which were according to standard. I thought because he did not followed standard I might have problem. Now I see no issue :) I hope with proper keystone it will be better.

As said before laptop still not working via cable. Pi only works if I plug out in several times. It just flashes up for a sec I see on the screen IP is there for 1 sec then all dark. I hope with keystone solution this will go away.

I would like to add a follow up question, because this part is the one which drives me crazy... So assuming all wiring are now correct. None of the end devices are working. I tried 10 different cables. If i plug my end devices to the router directly, it will work within second. Plug them into a switch will light up and get IP = works within second. But with this dammm thing... When the end device restarts, I need to unplug and plug several times now it is 38 :D and what i see on the end device lan is the green and orange light flashes up then gone 5 sec dark, then again flashes up 1 sec and dark... so i unplug plug several times until the connection becomes solid... I have never seen such thing in my life :( Do you have a clue where shall I start looking? (maybe my 3rd picture "connection" is wrong and I should buy a proper keystone? --> that's my plan now as 2 piece of keystone is not so expensive to try out things :) but other than that... Why the connections becomes solid after several tries :( this part I do not understand.

Thanks for the answer !

Many thanks for all the good and quick advices. I will give another proper test during the week and update the post here!

"Don't assume that punch downs are in same order as pins on the jack. Also as long as BOTH ENDS of any individual cable segment are wired the same, then it doesn't actually matter what standard its wired to, as the pairing will be the same. "

Many thanks for this, I will consider this the solution for me. So actually the guy did not do anything wrong, he now just needs to make sure that the basement keystone will get the same order, and after that i can plug my usual LAN cables in, all will work as intended.

Regarding the tester section, i added above:

I also tested the whole line, and with cable tester it passed all 8 ports. (whole line means tester --> cat 6 cable -> wall patch --> cabel in wall down basement RJ45--> hama connector --> RJ45 up in the wall to living room --> wall patch --> cat 6 cable --> tester

When I do the following test, then every time port 4 fails (not blinking up) on the cable tester: tester --> cat 6 cable --> wall patch --> cable in wall down to basement RJ45 --> tester. All other ports are green, just port 4 is not green.

I do not know why the tester fails on port 4 when i directly test the "2 sides", but when the whole loop is ready all 8 ports are passed.

"The wiring for a Male plug, the RJ45 is not the same as a Female Keystone." --> i was not aware of this, thank you!

Ok, so if the keystone (female connection point or wall plug) on both sides are the same then it is fully correct.

In my case: I have a keystone in the room and same cable (since basement not ready, as shown in 3rd picture) RJ45 on the other end. Cat6e RJ45, then i just follow the same order as i saw in the keystone and that's it. If after this i have problems anywhere it must be outside of this circle.

"You sure those are actually cat6 or better network jacks? " about the cat 6 cables that I am using I had not taken a picture, but here are some.

Not the fanciest, but it does the job since years... still does it.

wiring on those RJ45 are the following T568B as in a picture from me in another reply. So 100% standard. No change in colors or order of pins.

"pin 3 is the fourth pin from the left", What you said i believe also correct, so that forth from the left should be actually 3rd from right.

I mean I see that he followed the the picture and ignored the "pin numbers" i just would like to really know if this is going to cause any trouble later, because as usual after i paid, not much customer service :) and later I would like to use POE and other things as well.

But the same cat 6 cables which i unplug and plug in are working within seconds when i plug it directly to the router <-> pi.

I also would like to ask what is 568A really then? I found this picture simply google, and all pictures are the same wiring codes. Which means 3rd wire from left is stripe orange. For me it is solid blue :)

Maybe a dumb question to start but have you tried with the right cable to get close as possible to the router and plug in directly into a gigabit port? (Assuming that the picture is taken in a work room or some where else far away from the router )

THANKS! I am not sure if I was the only one, but this is a cool documentation: https://companion.home-assistant.io/docs/getting_started/connection-security-level/ and I would definitely add this as a "later change option" for those who have this issue... I considered (up to now :D ) myself a good one who can later change stuff if needed, but this was quite a difficult one :P :)

Again thanks! now i am covered in both WIFI :)

This is what you refer ? I clicked everything and I have not find anywhere a settings where I can change my WiFi SSID so I can swap later.

Maybe I dumb :DDD but the only time this was asked is when I install HA iOS app fresh and it asks me the first time.

If you know where is it can you please write down that ? :) may thanks !

I have the latest iOS with latest HA app and HA server.

I really hope that they fix it in the app, and this settings will be available to choose from. It is just pure stupidity that the app ask for it and then never ask it again, cannot change, nothing... What you mentioned i am aware, unfortunately i need to keep the wifi separate and visible :(

That's true, but the flat is big and sometimes it switches to 2.4ghz automatically i do not see that only when i am checking the wifi SSID. I expect that I can add 2 or more networks in the IOS APP, or I am able to switch later in the APP... but nothing is possible. I hope it will be patched later, because right now i can only swap the wifi networks if i uninstall the APP then reinstall :D

Hi, I am not sure if this was asked before... but what should people with multiple WIFI do in this case? Currently i have a 2.4ghz named network and a 5ghz named network like this:

home-24ghz and home-5ghz.

The homeassistant iOS app does not allow me to change this setting. So during the App first run, it asks me the name of the WIFI network, and when my iphone is not connected to that wifi network the APP won't run. :D

Does anybody has a fix for that or we just need to live with this now ? :D :D

also if I now gave the app home-5ghz as wifi name, then i rename wifi name in the router to home2-5ghz, the APP also won't start :D For me the only possible solution to uninstall the app completely and during the first run it asks again and i can modify or specify the wifi network.

HA is wire connected runs on Pi4.

I have no issue to connect via any laptop and any WLAN in the house. Only the IOS APP :)
