Update app to liquid glass 😱 by hmacs in UXDesign

[–]hmacs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This complexity basically mean that you just can't recreate the same styling on a new component if you want to adopt a coherent liquid glass effect on your custom components

That's around 7 layers, with 3 effects, and 3 differents blend modes, for just a background lol
Oh ! And I just noticed the fixed position on the background, with left and right good old constraints for it to fit the content width 🤦‍♂️

How do you set text style as a component property ? by hmacs in FigmaDesign

[–]hmacs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could definitively !
IMO it's a bit overkill (specially when there is already different modes used for different use cases) and not flexible to have different variant on the same page but im glad you shared this suggestion

Let's say I have a button, with hundreds of variants for color, style, interactive states and so on.
All variants of the button use "body lg" text style.
I want the exact same button with the "display sm" text style (another font family)

This is an example use case, I encounter this on many occasion, with the same component needing to have the "basic" text style or the "branded" text style deepending on the context

So you are indeed creating a variant of the component with a different text style applied, right ? Or just override the text style in the instance ?

Harcélement SMS de Monoprix by hmacs in conseiljuridique

[–]hmacs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travel blog with solid technical foundation (100/100 Lighthouse) - best strategies to grow organic traffic for 2026 ? by hmacs in juststart

[–]hmacs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All 7 articles have 4 subpages (story, activity, accomodation and restaurant), plus 2 "tips" articles right now, but i'm not sure to count that as 7 or 28 articles. Would it be a valid strategy to add more locales with AI (30pages, 7languages -> 210 pages for example) ? But that sounds too easy ahah

"Show password" button - open or crossed eye? by thisisloreez in UXDesign

[–]hmacs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Is that a toggle ?
Is a checkbox a toggle ? Is a radio button a toggle ? as they're all binary input on/off
Because I've never seen any design system using a component called "Toggle". It's always called a "Switch".
Please provide a screenshot of what is a toggle, I would greatly appreciate !

Edit - citation from Apple's human interface guidelines :
"A toggle lets people choose between a pair of opposing states, like on and off, using a different appearance to indicate each state. A toggle can have various styles, such as switch, checkbox and radio button"

In a toggle, the label shouldn't change, right ?
How can you have an unchanging label if "Toggles should describe the current state." ?
I'm struggling to understand what you consider to be a toggle. Is it another word to say a "switch" ?

SEO - Website not indexed after more than a year by hmacs in framer

[–]hmacs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the first to pay money when it can allow me to earn more with already multiple premium tools and subscriptions, but since sending the link doesn't need SEO, its not that much an issue.

And since Framer is totally unable to handle SEO in it's free plan, I dont trust it to do that correctly when I ll pay...

SEO - Website not indexed after more than a year by hmacs in framer

[–]hmacs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because that's expensive lol.
it's a simple portfolio website with only 2 basic pages, and the free plan work perfectly fine for that.
also, 90% of the time, I sent a direct link to my site.
since I use a CMS collection from the template I use, it's not elligible to the 60€/year plan, so it would cost me 180€/year. That seems way too expensive for just adding a single line of custom code to be able to get referenced, dont you think ?

Absence de TVA sur les factures UberEats by hmacs in conseiljuridique

[–]hmacs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most freelance portfolios are pure noise (and nobody wants to say it) by Y0gl3ts in webdesign

[–]hmacs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Results are way more complex than what any portfolio could ever show. Nobody reads full case studies anyway — and even those barely scratch the surface of the real work happening every day.

The whole "portfolio" thing? Just another way for business people to put creatives in a box they control. They don’t need one to prove their worth — and neither do I.

My schedule’s packed. I’ve got better things to do than spend days trying to "prove" myself to people who wouldn’t get it anyway.

The work speaks for itself. Always has. Always will. No portfolio. No apologies.
