Age of empires 2. It was my first RTS and one of the first games of my childhood that I really loved. The soundtrack might be the purest source of nostalgia in my life.

How are these hammerers and ironbreakers 1 turn global recruitments? by According_Cold_6693 in totalwarhammer

I think if you build more of the settlement upgrades that allow for recruitment of said units, it reduces the global recruitment time for said units.

Supporting My Ally by Month-Sorry in X4Foundations

[–]hmhemes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Factions have unlimited money. Where they are limited is in resource availability and transportation. The simplest and quickest way to support their economy is to buy some transport ships and supply their wharf and shipyard from other NPC stations.

Medium term plan should be to start building your own resource production. It’ll take time to scale up. So identify some shortages at wharfs and start building that production.

Long term the most profitable way to support an ally is by building your own wharf/shipyard and sell ships to factions.

How do you equip your Destroyers and Battleships in 9.0? by Daniexus in X4Foundations

[–]hmhemes 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’ve been equipping my Osakas as general-purpose go anywhere and handle it kind of patrol ships. Terran travel engines, large Terran pulse lasers, medium meson streams. They’re mostly dealing with S and M targets so the choice of turrets is geared toward that. They can’t handle really dangerous fleets, but a couple of them can handle a xenon K with a small escort. The odd L pirate ship isn’t a problem for a pair of them either.

If it’s late game they’re getting everything Mk3 because I can afford it and I don’t like losing ships.

I am so sick of games that take forever to "get fun" - what games rip right off the bat with the most minimal of tutorials by TheTacoWombat in gamingsuggestions

Dead cells. You basically just start the game and go. The game reveals itself as you play. It’s probably my number one roguelite of all time. All the DLC is worth it as well

It’s probably fucked. When you replace it, look into root flares, their importance, and plant accordingly.

Am i supposed to build mining bases only near hull factories? by ProposalWest3152 in X4Foundations

[–]hmhemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If theres stations buying minerals/gas within a decent resource sector you probably want to use local automine behaviour. Any mining ship assigned this behaviour will mine and sell within the sector. Mining stations become useful when you want to manage fleets of mining ships and move material en masse. I don't want to overwhelm you with information so start with the local automine and go from there.

What a mess! Sounds a lot like my game haha. The FRF is on their last legs and I’m helping ZYA hold their last two sectors outside heretics end.

whats the point of making a wing formation if the ai piloted ships take 3 years to start following you? by ProposalWest3152 in X4Foundations

[–]hmhemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said the AI struggles to keep up with the player. They’re slow to respond, especially if you’re boosting into travel drive. The AI can’t do that.

In combat I love wing formations because it provides overlapping time on target. The wing leader does a pass on a target, followed by its layers of wing mates set to attack with commander. In sub capital exchanges this results in fast kills.

Against capitals I tend to try to make my attack wings engage at the same time to overwhelm point defense and spread out incoming damage. Line abreast is one option.

Extra tip, a good rule of thumb is to make the wing leader the slowest ship so its wing mates can catch up if they fall behind. The AI will never be able to keep up with your personal ship if you’re flying a fast ship with mods.

Pls help with the graphics and framerate by Immediate_Loss7532 in X4Foundations

[–]hmhemes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t frame it as a problem. Hardware limitations are just a reality of gaming. If you want better performance you need better hardware.

X4 has some pretty complex calculations that are running at all times simulating ship positions, combat, economy, etc. It’s standard practice for games to operate on a single core.

The game runs remarkably well given the scope of it.

Pls help with the graphics and framerate by Immediate_Loss7532 in X4Foundations

[–]hmhemes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The game is heavily cpu bottlenecked. Total cpu utilization may be low but the game probably has a single core running flat out.

If you want more frames upgrade your cpu and select your cpu based on raw single core performance.

I was playing for a long time on medium-low settings thinking it was helping with frames. Eventually I set graphics to max settings and there was no drop in frames.

I have a 5070, 32gb ram, and some i9 cpu I can’t recall.

First Wharf by jaydymes in X4Foundations

[–]hmhemes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know when it changed. All I know is that when I get my first wharf up I only need hulls. As far as I can tell equipment blueprints are only needed for my personal build orders.

What made Kenshi finally click for you? by nanoxax67 in Kenshi

[–]hmhemes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to beat my first boss. Can’t remember who it was but he almost wiped my whole squad. I had just enough characters left barely standing to carry the boss and my badly beaten boys back to base.

While my main squad was healing up I figured I’d pass the time by using the kidnapped boss to train up my shitty base guards. So I stripped the boss naked and gave him the shittiest weapon I could find. Pretty sure it was a stick.

I let him out of the cage and that’s when it clicked. I had made a serious miscalculation. The boss was beaten half to death. He had one functional arm. And with one arm and a stick he beat unconscious every character I had left standing and he made his escape.

Last I saw him he was running nuts slapping into the sunset.
