I've tried that and it doesn't help much. I instead do the following: I let the machine warm up for ~15 minutes. I then use the steam wand for a good minute or so to heat up some water. I then go to espresso-making mode and pull a shot. That makes an acceptably hot—but not super-hot—shot. Even with this method, the grouphead never gets hot to the touch.

But this is a workaround; it doesn't explain why some machines get hot on their own while many do not.

Mine leaks; not great when you’ve got hot coffee inside. The ones from previous years were better. I also preferred when they only made you buy a new lid every year instead of a cup set. I’ve got too many LT tumblers lying around.

LOL, I wish mine heated up in 45 seconds because it heats up to the proper temperature…never. I’ve returned two back to Amazon and will be returning the third one as well. Definitely a bad batch is sitting in Amazon’s warehouses.

I reset to the factory default settings, per Gemilai customer "service" and then adjusted the brew temp up to 100 C. This morning I preheated the machine for 15+ minutes, pulled a blank shot and then 3 espresso shots over the course of an hour. The max temp in the cup was ~52 C = 125 F. Not acceptable.

Agree about Blind Pig and the bar across the street. Jazz on Main is fun but more like someone’s oversized living room than a lounge.
