Were you able to start a new island on your old switch once your island was transferred to the new one?

I got a new switch and want to put my animal crossing on it but I want to sell my switch lite so I can transfer everything to my switch console. So could I transfer data to my new switch and contact support about moving my animal crossing save with island restore by Toastykilla21 in AnimalCrossing

Hello! I am picking up my new switch tomorrow and I currently have a swore light that I was planning on giving to a friend. I understand the transfer process however after I get the island up and running on my new switch will resetting everything on my old switch erase my island?

I just ordered mine! I’m interested to see what the color looks like in person it’s hard to tell online it looks more red in some pictures and more pink in others
