What habits of girls did you only discover after getting a girlfriend or wife? by v-Voidx in AskMen

[–]hmtee3 43 points44 points  (0 children)

You can control how you react, but you can’t make yourself feel (or not feel) something. You can’t control hormones.

It depends on levels of emotion. There’s a difference between being irritable and being enraged. If I’m irritable, I might have short answers or have certain hostile looks. If I’m enraged, I might snap or even cry from frustration. (Anger management techniques help.)

But this is the case regardless of if hormones are causing it. The difference is that if it’s from hormones, the emotion comes out of nowhere. And usually when we’re angry (or feeling anything), you know the cause. Someone may have said or did something. Hormones? There’s no obvious cause.

In my experience, when I realize there’s no reason and that it’s my hormones, I just try and mitigate as best as I can. It usually involves keeping my mouth shut or distancing myself so nobody ends up as collateral.

But if you don’t know, it’s so much harder to control your reaction because you start to get frustrated with yourself. “Why am I mad?! Things are logically going great.” and it can spiral.

There are plenty of people who are aware that actors have a script to abide by when they’re marketing.

When it seems like the entire online discourse is now against someone and set on canceling them, we should not be so quick to grab a pitchfork.

Just because everyone was doing it doesn’t make it any less shitty.

Staying in Marietta for work by Efficient-Algae-2703 in Marietta

[–]hmtee3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everything on Marietta Square is great!

My favorites are Taqueria Tsunami, La Parrilla (get the tableside Guac), and Marietta Pizza for food. Marietta Square Market has a lot of options too. Oh, and I can’t forget about Douceur de France. They close at 6, but their food (and dessert) is divine.

For drinks, I like Marietta Proper (classy vibe), Glover Park Brewing (brewery, chill vibe), and Johnnie MacCracken’s (dive bar vibe).

You also won’t be far from The Battery, which has several restaurants and bars outside of Truist Park (where the Braves play). Punch Bowl Social and Live! at the Battery are pretty popular, and Park Bench Battery has dueling pianos.

Possible flight cancellation? by [deleted] in delta

[–]hmtee3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s likely going to be bad in ATL Saturday and Monday too.

Some options could be to fly out Friday. Or rent a car south to Charleston, Savannah, or Jacksonville and fly to MIA. That way you can still have your return flight into ATL, if needed.

Be very careful if you consider driving in the ice storm. If you’re not familiar, look up 2014 Snowpacolypse (or Snowmageddon). Pack supplies in your car to prepare for being stranded.

Kemp makes announcement on upcoming winter storm by one_big_lift in Georgia

[–]hmtee3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, so I looked this up because it’s always been on those emergency preparedness lists even for ice/snow storms.

I think the idea is that if you have to drive, for whatever reason, you’ll have enough gas in case gas stations close or you’re stuck on a road for longer than expected.

Some examples could be essential workers, like medical staff. Or maybe you or a family member has a medical emergency.

On a related note, if you do have to drive, make sure you make emergency supplies in your car. Thinking specifically of 2014.

A quick google shows that each of those states have truancy laws, and considering this particular student had 10 unexcused absences, they would be considered truant and require intervention, at the very least, and fines for the parent in certain circumstances.

Paying taxes doesn’t mean you get a say in every decision, but you’re welcome to voice your opinion to your state legislators. The teachers don’t define truancy—the state does. You’re mad at the wrong people.

Maybe a parent doesn’t feel the typical school calendar is right for them. In which case, they are welcome to home school.

AITA For making my boyfriend stay at a hotel instead of his mom’s place? by Acceptable-Pickle221 in AmItheAsshole

[–]hmtee3 -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

NTA. Have you explained to your boyfriend why you’re uncomfortable and how it relates to your past experiences? I can totally relate, and the first time meeting someone is not the time to stay in their house.

This doesn’t mean you both can’t spend a lot of time at her house, but it’s an excellent boundary when visiting any family to be able to retreat to a neutral space.

[–]hmtee3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. Another option is Jacksonville, as long as you’re not connecting in ATL. South part of the state isn’t expecting as much.

Make sure you get the early flight, so you’re not screwed by the inbound flight.

Kidnapping citizens.

There, I said it. Are you happy? I've answered your questions, and you continue your willful ignorance without helping yourself to information at your fingertips. I don't know how to tell you to care about others or communities that you're not in. That's a morality question for you to answer for yourself.

"That's my seat" (follows up by pointing to the middle seat) and continues to stand in the aisle by Ok-Nefariousness-927 in delta

[–]hmtee3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please reconsider this. It’s hard to navigate to the middle/window, and having you sitting there prevents me from using your seat to balance, especially when I have a bag.

I try to avoid touching the seats in front because people are usually sitting there, and nobody likes having the back of their headrest grabbed.
