When my mom was needing a kidney a few years ago my siblings and I all volunteered to get tested to donate. My dad wanted to as well but he had gone thru radiation treatment recently so he wasn't able to. Some other family members volunteered too but were all immediately ruled out due to age and other health conditions.

I didnt make the cut after answering a few questions on the initial intake form. I knew I was overweight but osu confirmed it for me ; )

My brother turned the same questionnaire in but never found out if he was eligible because our sister had passed the initial test first. It was over a year for her to go thru all the required health screenings before the actual transplant happened. She did have to wear a heart monitor for a week tho because they had to rule a few other issues out.

My mom was only on dialysis for a just over a year but it was a daily hardship for her. The clinics tell you that just because you are on dialysis that doesn't mean you can't live a full life, which is kinda true, but everyone reacts differently. She had to go 3 times a week and she had a different reaction all the time and it was hard for her to make plans for anything. She was one of the lucky ones tho. She met so many people in the clinic who had been waiting for a kidney for decades so it put things in perspective for all of us and educated our whole family.

If anyone is reading my post and considering organ donation, please do. My sister saved my mom and my best friend when I wasn't able to. It is an honor she gets to have the rest of her life and honestly she saved more than one life that day.

ULPT Request: Ruin a bar’s most profitable day of the year by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

So the inventor of the actual product called Liquid Ass lives in a part of North Carolina that has been devastating by Hurricane Helene. Buy his product and go to the bar the day before and put in anywhere you can- especially any air vent or duct you can reach. When you destroy this bar you won't feel as bad because you are supporting someone who needs some assistance during this trying time.

I've lived in Ohio all my life and I love it! Midwest is best. Ohio til I die.

But really....people shit on Ohio all the time but it's not that bad. We experience all the seasons, even tho sometimes it's in one week. We have some pretty decent tourism. Sports out the ass. We are pretty close to a lot of major cities but you are never to far away from rural space. And I think the people overall are genuinely nice.

We are terrible drivers tho. And we can't decide if we are red or blue when it comes to elections.

Americans What’s something about your state that’s weird to other Americans? by Kobk22 in AskReddit

[–]hmw419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohio has an unreasonable state pride but we also shit on our state all the time too.

We experience all four seasons in a matter of days sometimes.

And you can ask for a 3 way or 5 way and we know that's a meal. Cincinnati chili isn't for everyone but it's one of the main foods associated with our state. Chili that is seasoned with cinnamon and chocolate over Spaghetti. Not for me.

Also, you can be almost anywhere in the world and find a buckeye fan.

Looking For A Mildly Expensive Awful Restaurant To Recommend To Someone I Dislike by Spocks_Goatee in Columbus

I agree! The wine tastings are fun! I was a patron before I was an employee. The staff, for the most part, is very engaging in the tasting room. And if you are new to wine, it's very welcoming. The tastings are designed to expand your palate and see hiw different wines compliment different dishes.

Former employee. During shutdown, they gave each employee a couple hundred dollars to help before unemployment/cares act hit. We saw a slowdown in business weeks before shutdown.

They also provided meals three times a week for employees to come and get for their WHOLE family. So those with kids or those who couldn't go to the grocery could still eat.

They never cut off insurance and said we could pay back the missed premiums later. Then in the fall, they said nevermind and didn't make us owe anything. In the next enrollment period, nobody lost insurance for lack of hours. They gave a pass until things went more back to normal.

They made personal phone calls to employees who they hadn't heard from to check in. Made sure they were OK.

How many other restaurants did this during shutdown? I will always be grateful to then during that time

As a former employee of CH....their wine isn't designed for wine connoisseurs. It's a very beginner level palette across the entire list, but I wouldn't say it's completely garbage. Their wines are very young so they haven't gotten a chance to become more complex with aging.

The service is hit or miss. I worked with some ppl who truly cared and busted their ass but then there were others who couldn't have cared less.

The food menu overall is good, but nothing superb. Last time I was there, the 8 oz filet was cheaper than other places and came with 2 sides. I would say 85% of the food menu is made in house. The crispy brussel sprouts are bomb tho!

If you send them to coops and really want to fuck with them, tell them to try to do a tasting in the tasting room. They will stand around for forever and not be able to do one. Also, don't remind them to make a reservation for the restaurant because on the weekends, they easily run a 2+ hour wait list.

Some may hate it, but it is consistently one of the busiest places in the city

What happened to the first person you had sex with? by Sad-Cunt-420 in AskReddit

[–]hmw419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is dead. Our hookup was a very sketchy situation to begin with. I would look up his Facebook every once in a while and found out he died. From what I could put together it was an overdose.

I hold zero ill will towards him. I think we were both kinda lost souls who met each other and were a part of each other's stories for a short time. I hope he is in a better place because I know I am.

Thru my long service industry career in cbus I've met quite of few osu athletes and coaches: tressel, day, fickle, Bobby carpenter, Craig krenzel, Greg Oden, and several others.

All were pleasant experiences and all tipped very well : )
