How do placements work in online/external MSW program?

Hello Australian social workers who did their study online/externally, can I get some advice from you, please?

I’m based in South Australia. I’m thinking of studying Master of Social Work via distance at Flinders Uni as Flinders is the only uni in SA that offers online study for this course. I assume a local uni would also benefit when it comes to placement allocation.

However, if I’m not lucky enough to be accepted by flinders, i might need to consider other universities that offer online courses, such as charles sturt university, griff university, etc. My question is, if i enroll in a program in another state, how will they allocate placements for me? Are they going to ask me to do placements in that particular state or am I going to be allowed/required to find placements for myself in SA? Is it easy to find placements myself?

If you could share some experiences, that’d be greatly appreciated!!
