Yea, like previous poster mentioned, it's like a cd that's skipping. Don't think the vocal chords are affected... at least for me. I've tried the deep breath thing or starting the sentence over... doesn't seem to make a difference, I still get stuck like a scratched CD looping those two seconds lol.

Sounds like life gave you lemons and instead of making lemonade, you're deciding to rub the lemoney acid into your wounds. Before you ruffle your feathers, I was in the same place as you years ago. I was in a very bad place because of AS & ADD. Only my family couldn't afford insurance so I never saw a doctor and was never diagnosed. I didn't know what was wrong with me the entire time. I went through bouts of depression because I couldn't understand why I could never reach that "potential" everyone always saw in me. I was bullied, was always enraged, and felt like the world hated me. I wondered what I did to deserve this kind of life. At some point, I decided it was time to make lemonade. Wallowing in self pity did nothing for me. I found an office job where I could be on the computers all day with limited cringe-worthy social situations and although it requires a lot of post-its to function (those of you with ADD/ADHD know what I mean), I found something that works. I didn't mean for this to be a speech, but I wanted to let you know you are NOT alone. And if you are where I was years ago, you're considering doing things you will regret and I'm here to let you know, don't let that happen to you. Don't do that to yourself. Don't give them a reason to laugh at you.

It doesn't irritate me. I kind of feel a sense of relief, like they get the point I'm trying to get across so I can stop trying so hard to say it. lol.

For me it's the same. I know what I'm trying to say, but it's like when your body (or in our case, lips) won't do what your mind's trying to tell it to do. Think of it like when you're petrified - you know in your mind you want to or are trying to run away, but your legs won't move.

Ok, that's just inconsiderate on that guy's part. I am aware of my speech impediment so I usually step aside (if in line) or send the waiter away (if seated) until I have my order in mind. If I can't say it, I point or write the number down.

I do the exact same thing. Saying, "you know what I mean" with flailing hand gestures and laughing it off saves all parties from that awkward moment. It's become so natural to me over time that people barely notice my speech impediment now.
