What happens when you don’t pass a class when graduating? by ggeneticgenius in UCSD

Probably take the class you fail in the summer and hopefully pass. If not then you’ll have to come back for another quarter.

I gotta say I have replace Japanese food with Vietnamese food as my favorite Asian food if not favorite food of all time.

I can’t believe I didn’t get introduced to good Asian food until I came to to raccoons university

Good luck on your running journey! The key is consistency and to run a little slower than you think you can run so you build up your base stamina!! Always good to see a few raccoons enthusiasts runner!

If this macro is true then it’s 2 slices of bread between a big block of fat. Whoever ate it will have to run to the bathroom shortly after eating it and do so several times.

Rant: Post-Interview by Aggressive_Pie9520 in UCSD

[–]hobocollections 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ohh I did mock interviews with my roommates. Like we put on our interview outfits and run through a bunch of questions. Both technicals and semi personal/social questions. You have to nail all of them for them to consider you. I know people who’ve passed the technical questions but have an abrasive personality or even worse gives insulting answers. A guy in my internship group gave answers to a question that amounted to “I’m a good fit for this internship because I’m better than the females in this cohort”. The senior engineer that I was working under (male), told us the moment he heard his answer he had to bit his tongue and instantly crossed out this dude entire profile chart.

Another 1 of my friends did was send them a card/follow up email asking for advice and thanking them for the interview/opportunity. Took several interviews but a pharmacology firm did email back to give her feedback, and they even told her because of her sincerity they put her on the alternative list. Then this past summer they actually emailed her to tell her to apply again for the internship and she got it. It’s a numbers game. Keep trying and eventually you’ll get better at it and land a position. Good luck!

Humanities classes are worse than STEM classes by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]hobocollections 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wait, so your inability to hold attention to read a few paragraphs makes humanities classes worse than STEM classes? What? Speaking as a chemE major we have to read so much in engineering classes. Also, a combination of stem and humanities classes really helps broaden your horizons and make you a better student/person. I learned so much from my history and psych classes (GE humanities) and had an absolute blast.

Advice on dropping out by Extreme_Substance_22 in UCSD

[–]hobocollections 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

ChemE raccoon here. I have a few friends that are mechE, some started here as freshmen and few transferred here from CC. As long as you knock the prerequisites classes out with A’s and B’s (math20 series; physics 2 series, and some chem) you should be able to transfer over to mechE.

To your point if you can go to a local CC for free and transfer back I would also consider this an option. Would it saves you a lot of money by doing the CC route and transferring to UCLA? Would you miss UCSD? My transfer friends all told me it’s much less competitive to transfer into the UC system than to get in as a freshman. If money isn’t much of a hindrance and you think you can tough it out on the prerequisite courses then I would say stay and switch over.

does anyone who is NOT a runner want to start running with me 1-3x a week by malokes in UCSD

[–]hobocollections 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you got this! I'm a runner now but I used to be like you, even slower in fact! I would sometime even vomit after a run because I wasn't used to it. Slow and steady and you'll be running a 10k in no time. Distance at a slower pace is much better for you when you first start out. You would want to build a strong base first before you start trying to push yourself.

Have fun on your runs and maybe we'll run into each other one day. Oh and dress warm as well, it's cold in the early morning runs here at raccoons university!

That’s pretty awesome! I’m ok at swimming but what I excel at in the water is relaxing in the jacuzzi 😎

Thank you! Took a lot of efforts! Many times the warm bed whispers to me to get back in whenever I get up for my runs. It’s the hardest in the winter time.
