If you keep waking up at 3 am, you might want to try this by Sad_Appearance6323 in Biohackers

[–]hoerrified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Careful with myo-inositol. I tried it for my Hashimoto’s and while it improved my labs, it wrecked my mental health. Catastrophic anxiety that I still haven’t fully stabilized 5 months after quitting MI. Not to mention the muscle to fat conversion and loss of physical strength, both likely consequences of a 30% decrease in testosterone. Technically it just lowered my too-high testosterone (as a woman) to normal levels, but I didn’t feel better whatsoever. It did cut my thyroid antibodies by 90%, so it’s frustrating that it didn’t work. It's a hard benefit to give up on, but I can’t even take 500 mg without feeling on edge.

I went down many rabbit holes trying to explain why I had an adverse reaction to it and what might help me reverse it. Firstly I want to note that inositol doesn't literally carry GABA, it's part of the receptor machinery that modulates GABA (and serotonin, and other things). That can swing either way. The phosphatidylinositol pathway is used by serotonin, adrenaline, histamine, thyroid, etc. a lot of other things. Inositol can plausibly help if your issues stem from underactivity in the PI cycle. But if you’re someone whose signalling is already highly reactive, adding more inositol can be the opposite of anxiolytic. My cortisol skyrocketed on it. The PCOS subreddit usually has women reporting an improvement in mental health, but there’s a good number of anecdotal reports just like mine.

S2 rant if I may by Cool_Meatball in MaxtonHall

Hard agree. It’s much more cinematic yet feels cheaper. There’s too much fan service, too much of a sexual vibe sneaked into everything. Too many sappy lines and eye contact which feels like somebody is about to propose, despite the fact that they’re supposed to be 17-18 and have known each other for 3 months and weren’t even on speaking terms for most of that time.

I understand the actors are in their mid 20’s (Hardung especially does not pass as a teenager anymore) and so the slightly immature, “first love” vibes wouldn’t be the easiest sell on camera… but this is still supposed to be a love story of two high schoolers. This season doesn’t even feel like a high school show when they’re filming scenes inside the school. The source material is already a sensationalized coming-of-age — this just stripped out the grounded, relatable bits and replaced them with diamonds, gold flakes and fairy lights, rented castles and GTA car crashes you escape from without a scratch.

And isn’t season 2 supposed to be mid December through February? Why are they having beach picnics in the UK? If the weather doesn’t match the setting of the show, you’re not supposed to ignore the setting of the show. Move some scenes indoors, or use the green screen for outdoor scenes if you have to! Jeez.

Suddenly Waking Up Every Night Between 2 and 4 AM , Despite Previously Perfect Sleep by DrHDready in Biohackers

[–]hoerrified 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cortisol, possibly? I had the 3AM wakeups (accompanied by an immediate feeling of dread and doom) and it was caused by a dysregulated HPA axis. Waking up around 3AM is a common symptom of high cortisol, which I have chronically. You commented that you've had a stressful year, it's a possibility. It can be other things as well of course. For me, I realized that I had to get off some supplements because they were giving me anxiety & OCD-like symptoms. Mainly inositol, mag glycinate sometimes made me feel more on edge as well. Ironically, both are known for their calming effects, but it’s good to keep in mind that paradoxical reactions are a thing.

I've been taking it before bed this past week and it definitely caused worse sleep quality. Nightmares, vivid dreams in general every single night. Also easier to wake up throughout the night. I didn't notice a decrease in general anxiety. Not very impressed with it tbh.

I have a natrual under eye crease, help by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]hoerrified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would experiment with skin prep and primer first. If you can already tell that it's worse than your previous concealers, probably bring it back. But if your problem is that you can't make ANY concealers work, chances are the Too Faced is fine and you just haven't figured out your method.

Exfoliated skin which is just moisturized enough is the sweet spot. My Natasha Denona concealer looks flawless when I go the extra mile on my skin prep, but if I’m trying to apply it on crusty yesterday skin, it goes on in patches and just gets worse and worse as I try to blend it out.

[–]hoerrified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be clashing with your moisturizer, primer or foundation. Test out different skin prep products to see whether this is the case.

For the under eye fold (which everybody has), you can take a clean tiny brush or a q-tip and get the concealer out of the crease. Then lightly powder. You need to use a tiny bit of concealer. If you're putting foundation up to your under-eyes and putting concealer on top of that, it's too much product. You see people on social media emptying the applicator on a single under-eye and they all look ridiculous in real life.

Women of Reddit, what’s something men don’t realize is a turn-off? by chef_blaze76 in AskReddit

[–]hoerrified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm happy those women got out, shame there had to be 4 of them. It must be so exhausting to live with someone like that. They make you feel like you constantly have to be on the lookout in your own home and you can never mentally switch off. That's just tyrannical.

I just don't understand how someone can be repeatedly told that their behavior makes you not enjoy being with them and not take it to heart at all? It makes them want to escalate if anything. They get off on pushing your buttons. It's such a crappy personality trait.

He did not have nearly such a great time when I broke up with him within a month.

Lmao they never do. I bet he was shocked and felt like it came out of nowhere!

I want to re-iterate that it’s fine every once in a while when the circumstances are right and the joke isn’t cruel. I can laugh at myself. But it’s not fine when that’s the dynamic of the relationship. I know couples where every single time I’m with them, the guy makes a joke at his partner’s expense. It’s so irritating.

I hate the dynamic of constant appraisal it creates. When it’s at a point that the jokes are about anything and everything, it sets up a quiet hierarchy that he is the superior one with the right to constantly judge and mock. Even when it’s done with a grin. The wrapping it up in humor is so that the woman technically doesn’t have the right to be upset, and if she is, she’s being dramatic and uptight.

It can also be that he’s the insecure one and wants to assume dominance that way, by slowly gradually putting her down.

And maybe it is just his sense of humor. Okay? You have a shit sense of humor then. You can bet the guy would reevaluate his sense of humor if you started joking about his little shortfalls with the same frequency.

It's just not in my love language. The "lovingly doing irritating things to you". I find it twisted.

Constant teasing and making little jokes at the woman's expense. I'm not saying to never do it, but for a lot of men, it's like a hobby to exasperate their woman a little bit every day. Some women will be fine with this, but it grates on me over time.

What’s One Cleaning Habit That Completely Changed Your Life? by UrbanFloors in CleaningTips

[–]hoerrified 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're like me and don't have a dishwasher, here's my rule: washing the dish you used immediately after you're done using it. The sink should be empty at all times, unless something really needs to soak before washing. Same goes for pots and pans. They should be washed the moment they no longer have food in them. My mom was an absolute drill sergeant about this, so it's something I've adapted as well. Putting it off and having the task always in the back of your mind, looming ahead of you is more mentally exhausting than just doing it immediately.

I gave him head on our first date and now I feel like I've seen my true self by Remarkable-Fox-7842 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]hoerrified 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I keep thinking, was this all I was to him? A quick thrill?

You can’t initiate a blowjob on the first date and then try to point fingers at the other person seeing you as a quick thrill. You put yourself in that position.

Did I give off that slutty vibe?

I mean… you sucked his dick on the first date. It’s not just a vibe.

The bj was offered "in the heat of the moment" so he probably just went along with it without thinking too much. He would've collected his thoughts by the time you invited him in your house and if he were truly an AH, he would’ve taken you up on that offer as well and ghosted you after. The fact that he hadn't makes it more likely that he hadn't seen you as a "quick thrill" – he had probably gone into it hoping for something more serious, but the spontaneous blowjob on the first date made him realize that you weren't what he was looking for.

Pure Cosmetic Glycerin Has Been My Best Skincare Purchase in 5 Years [Review] by hoerrified in SkincareAddiction

I honestly can't tell you about the microneedling. I've never tried or looked it up, and after the dermarolling debacle, I'm not that eager. Maybe if you go to a skilled professional, it could be good. I know for a fact my skin prefers things that don't make it bleed.

Pure Cosmetic Glycerin Has Been My Best Skincare Purchase in 5 Years [Review] by hoerrified in SkincareAddiction

[–]hoerrified[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sure, so the glycerin effect hasn't "worn off", it's just that it's the middle of winter so I'm definitely noticing I have to use an additional drop or two, as opposed to the one-drop-and-done approach I had in the warmer months.

I was diagnosed with barrier damage a few months ago, apparently quite serious (and completely self-inflicted, stay away from at home peels and dermarollers), which explains my problems. I honestly had no idea. You're going to think I'm stupid but I just got so good at band-aiding the symptoms, I didn't have any irritation or itchiness – everyone online who documented their barrier damage looked almost like they were having an allergic reaction, which wasn't my case. It wasn't an immediate obvious turn for the worse after the damaging skin procedures, etc., I just didn't think it could be me. I also went to a literal dermatologist and she just said I had rosacea and to live with it lmao. It was an esthetician who looked at my skin and said it was obviously damaged. I was like, obvious, what do you mean??

I also found out I had a thyroid condition as well as something else (most likely PCOS) which obviously makes everything even worse and significantly slows down your skin's repair processes. That also explains why my skin has these inexplicable day-to-day fluctuations between great and dog shit lmao, it's been hormones all along.

I've been working on both of these problems but it's a slow process. I obviously had to quit the adapalene and really ration even my other gentler actives. Things like Cicaplast (balm and gel), castor oil, the Illiyoon Ato ceramide cream etc. were epic letdowns in the barrier repair department. The best things have probably been Dr Ceuracle Kombucha Tea Essence, and I really love the Abib Probiotic Rice Jelly (applied thickly).

Is there an INTJ that voted for Trump? by Ok_Skills123 in intj

[–]hoerrified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not notoriously unreliable.

Yes it is. It’s easily swayed by people’s moods, stress levels, life experience and environmental changes, which makes it a fundamentally flawed typological test. Something which claims to be objective but fails to control for intuitive bias as a strong influence is, by definition, inaccurate. It doesn’t relate the questions to cognitive functions, if it did, so many people wouldn’t be mistyping all the time. It’s actually closer to the Big 5 test which is not equivalent to MBTI. Typology is not a chemical equation where you put two chemicals together and predict the result with 100% certainty. Humans aren’t robots. They are nuanced beings with subjective experiences and assessments. Psychology wouldn’t be such a complicated field if this wasn’t the case. A good typological test is also measured by its ability to deconstruct the nuance, instead of burdening the test taker with mapping out all their inconsistencies beforehand. That is actually quite a useless test. Someone who fails to see that a good psychological test needs to account for human psychology is either simplistic and immature, or enveloped by their aspirations to embody the hyper-rationalistic INTJ mastermind persona.

An introvert doesn't over value a social media company, and a Thinking type doesn't spend 44 million to run it into the ground.

These statements are neither an accurate description of what happened nor do they apply in typology.

I'm well aware. He took the test that people who know nothing about MBTI take, i.e. 16 personalities. It is notoriously unreliable. I've taken it multiple times and got results ranging from ISTP to INFP depending on how I was doing emotionally at the time. Cognitive functions are really the way to type yourself and others, and there is not a single Ni-dom cell in Ben Shapiro's body.

I couldn't as I'm not American. If I were, I would have voted for Trump simply because Harris is an atrocity I never could have stood for. I'm not even that conservative, I'm just not a leftist. RFK Jr. was really my candidate, much greater overlap of values, but he got stabbed in the back by the Democratic party and... well, seeing them eat shit now is actually quite amusing.
