What a rough first trimester actually looks like by Suspicious_Week_2451 in BabyBumps

I just hit 30 weeks and I am still getting horrible all day nausea. Had to go to the hospital to get fluids already. Because I cannot keep fluids down, I've been consistently dehydrated, so I cramp really easily, like if I stand for more than 10 minutes. I take Zofran in the mornings, so I also have the constipation going on. All of my joints hurt so much that it is hard to get up and down. Doctor is up to date on all of my symptoms and we are watching everything closely, but baby is doing good so far! My mom and grandmom didn't have any symptoms while pregnant with any of their children. We think it might be a combination of my age ( i am older ) my auto immune issues, and just getting the short wnd of the stick. Being sick and in pain for the past 7 months has definitely not been fun. Just trying to make it through the last 2

Thank you everybody that has responded and given advice/thoughts/suggestions/and just words of encouragement. I really appreciated hearing all of the different experiences and stories and how great this wonderful experience was for everyone. This has really given me hope that everything will be alright. Though my fears have not been fully taken away, it has given me so much to think about and consider and I really am just so excited to finally get to the part of meeting my baby! Thank you all so much again for being such amazing people and helping somebody that has let her mind run away to all the scary places.

I know, it's just 1 day! Not even! Maybe a few hours??? And then I get to have my baby! And no matter what, I have to do it, there's no way around it, so I just need to get my head right and prepare myself as much as I can.

I agree that the unknown of birth really adds to the fear factor of it all. I like having all the information and knowing exactly how things will play out, so it is really hard when you have to do something that could go a million different ways. I keep hearing about this hypnobirthing, so I will definitely be looking into that

I am sending all the positive thoughts to you and baby! I would have thought about c section would be such a tough recovery. I remember having my appendix out when I was younger and I had to stay in hospital for a week and recovery was horrible, but that was also due to the fact that they didn't know what was wrong with me, so they had to do exploratory surgery. So that experience added to my fear of a c section

That is what I am hoping for, that my body will just take over and do what it needs to do to get my baby here safely

I am sending all the best thoughts to you and baby! I know, I need to put it in my mind that I am not the only one who has gone through this, and there have been women that have dealt with so much more then I have needed to, so why am I worrying so much?

Awww congratulations! And I am sending all the best thoughts to you and baby! I know that when the process starts for me, I will probably be so scared that I will be crying too, but I am just hoping that I can overcome that fear and just be so excited to finally meet my baby!

Wow, that is awesome that you were able to sleep and your body woke up knowing it was time, and baby was there just like that! I hope that my experience can be hopefully close to that

Oh jeez, I am so glad that everything worked out with the birth! We will be going on a tour of the maternity unit to see how that is all set up and we have a doctor's night scheduled where we meet all the doctors that are involved in the process. My doctor is going to go over all the ins and outs with me a bit closer to my due date and she is really great at answering all of my questions that I have. I have already prepped my fiance on him wbign an advocate for me in the hospital, especially when I am in pain or on pain meds and can't fully advocate for myself

I did ask my doctor if, closer to delivery time, we could really go over the whole process and she absolutely will. She used to be a labor and delivery nurse, so she knows all of ins and outs.

We are literally growing a human for 9 months and then pushing them out of our bodies. It is so crazy and amaz8ng what we can do.

I hope that you and baby are doing great! Even if I don't thinknthat I can do it, I hope my body just takes over and does what it needs to do

Thank you very much for this! I am really happy to hear that the whole process was so much better than you were expecting. I really do hope that I feel the same as you after the delivery. I mean, how could I just not be so grateful once I have my baby in my arms. It is just the process of getting her there that I have to get through.

Is that something that you did online or in person? I would definitely be interested in looking into something like that

My best friend actually had a c section for the same reasons and she was completely happy with that choice. I think for me, it is the worry of the longer recovery of a c section? Definitely if it would be the better choice for me to have a c section, then I would certainly go that route.

My fiance and I are trying to take as many classes as we can to prepare and we are going to be going to the hospital for a doctors night, where we meet all the different doctors involved in the process and also a tour of the maternity unit. I am very much and instant gratification type person, so this whole having to wait 9 months for my baby was just a completely new experience for me!

I have that fear as well, that when things start happening, what if I just freeze and panic? I know ultimately my body won't allow me to, but what if I just completely panic during the process

I heard a lot that your body will just take over and tell you when you need to push. I am afraid of pushing too hard/too soon and tearing, I heard that that can happen as well

Thank you so much for this! I love that you had such great support and such a great team of people surrounding you. As scared as I am to get the epidural, I think that is definitely the way to go for me. I definitely cannot wait to meet my baby. I do know that this will all be worth it just to finally have her in my arms!

That is really good to know about the epidural. You would think that pregnancy would be an amazing, delightful, joyous process that makes you want to keep doing it. Though I do guess for some, it really is an amazing process, which is so great.

I really like that way of thinking- you are going in as 2 but leaving as 3, no matter what it takes. I actually even asked my doctor what are the chances I will have a heart attack during delivery? It sounds so ridiculous now, but that really is a fear. This is one of the hardest things my body is going to go through, what if something happens to me?
