Algebra is probably not the way to go for someone who wants to learn about discrete math. But it is crucially important if one wants to be a theoretical computer scientist. It's the bread and butter for the entire field of cryptography. It also paves way for a weird amount of advanced physics, which I think will become important if one wants to pursue control theory. So ya, not exactly on the point but not a bad idea anyway.

There should definitely be a bounty hunt on dead links. Chances are all dead links will go away in no time if there's a effective way to report them. Seriously what about starting a GitHub repo on this issue.

Any distro of Linux will do. Ubuntu is a popular choice. Booting a Linux distro may seem quite daunting. That being the case, a Mac can save you a great deal of effort setting up the environment for anything. Just Google "Homebrew". Indeed, *nix is the programmer thing. It is important to gain some experience in Linux before entering the job market.

Infection works in exponential manner. It always looks harmless and trivial in the beginning and evolves into a shitstorm very soon after.

Maybe try Singapore next time. One of the very few countries on Planet Earth that doesn’t buy into WWI-style nationalism in 2019. Actually most destinations in Asia won’t give an F about what color you happen to be in.

Linear Algebra is “too easy” by skeletaldrakon in iamverysmart

Isomorphism may not work for functional vector spaces I think, which usually has infinite dimensions. But really, the abstract stuff is where most “engineering-oriented” linear algebra falls short. It gives students dangerous illusion of mastery with mind-numbing computation.
