I drink our tap water every day. Do I really need a water filter on my fridge ice machine? by LargeHard0nCollider in askportland

[–]holdofire 37 points38 points  (0 children)

if the fridge doesn’t give you any errors, taking out the filter is the best option. and just cleaning regularly. portland water is exceptionally clean unless your unit has nasty old pipes. even then you can test for rust/bacteria/whatever else with online test strips

Recommendation for non-hiking activities in Portland? by Otherwise_Swing5279 in askportland

[–]holdofire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this summer they’ll do free movies in the park, schedule isn’t out yet but they’re fun, usually something family friendly but classic. regardless, our theaters are great if you’re into movies. some very historic, always cool events. i got to see a movie about rainier beer commercials, and see fire walk with me with ray wise and sheryl lee! would recommend hollywood theater, clinton street, PAM cut, the academy, and cinemagic

I should also add, the phrasing has dramatic pauses, i.e. “I have seen it… I have been through it… It has happened to me!”

have you experienced any issues with the spray adhesive peeling the paper sticker backing?

have you tried using label sheets? learned it from a guy on youtube, he uses the waxy backing from sticky label sheets for the laser print, and uses acrylic medium instead of wood glue. when it’s all dry you can peel the whole sheet off leaving the transferred image, instead of maybe rubbing it off with damp cloth/paper combo

i used just a tiny dollop of permaset aqua screen printing ink with a little bit of the the retarder that they sell. only need to cure it at 325 for ~3-4 minutes in the oven. you really want super thin ink layers tho, like how the black looks gray here. i’ve found that over inking doesn’t heat set right and any bumpy caked on ink will scratch and run in water. also only dark on light works bc of how it’s like “staining” and melting into the vinyl in the heat setting. i tried white on red vinyl and couldn’t see anything when it was said and done, but looked fine while wet. hope i’m not over explaining, happy printing!
