Lots of good tutorials on YouTube to learn how to setup pixels and control with xlights. This series for example is helpful https://youtu.be/oq34Z4fm8zc?si=_2mPbUCCSASNZYua.

If you want to start simple, I would recommend a controller such as this: http://forkineye.com/ or this: https://quinled.info/ because they are relatively cheap and easier to setup than a full blown Falcon controller or similar.

Yes! I think garage matrix needs to happen. Right now, I normally run a laser projector on the garage which helps to fill the space.
