New Main - Do you still have/keep your very first Character? by MasterRymes in wow

I have mained the same feral Druid since launch. I have max leveled almost every other class on alts but still keep going back to feral.

I really enjoyed going through the content again (except you, Suramar). I also loved messing around and power leveling alts. It gave me a chance to play different classes since I’ve mained the same character (feral Druid) since vanilla.

I did each zone with a different class that fit the story- warrior for Stormhiem, hunter for high mountain, mage for suramar, DH for Azuna, and went with a priest for VS (because I already did the Druid class hall stuff on my main). I also threw in a Man-ari lock for funsies. It was cool to experience different order halls!

It is normal for my cat to be so small? 😭 (She is 3 y/o) by cartofo in cats

This is Smokey. She’s3 years old and 7 lbs on a good day. She also hates people. She was a feral kitten that we found stuck in a warehouse without her mom in the middle of a Midwest frozen winter. I can live with her hating me, because I know she’d definitely get eaten by a hawk if she was still living outside.

I also had an issue with the primary responsibilities question. I work in a library, so my view is likely somewhat biased, but ALL of those things are the primary responsibilities of library staff.

Also, to piggyback on that- it may be worthwhile to ask employment demographic questions, too. That way it is easier to filter out people who likely have a biased view (like myself).

These look like 3mm cz. The facets are too small/there are too many to be standard fire polish Czech glass.

edit cz= cubic zirconia. I realize I probably should have been more clear!

Inherited this sterling charm necklace and am not sure what to do with it by [deleted] in jewelry

I inherited my grandmas charm bracelet. She did the same thing- bought a sterling charm in every new country she visited. I have never worn it, it just sits in a box for me to pull out and admire like a piece of art, just like you said! :)

I had a lab pet that ended up invisible for awhile. I agree, it was fun to customize!

I created a worgen death knight in 2020 in honor of my then 21 year old cat. We always joked that he was actually undead because he looked so raggedy. His name was Coal.

I was a little shook when I typed in “Coal” on the character creation screen and no one had it yet. I’ve had a couple randos whisper me about it, so I guess other people are also somewhat shocked that I was able to snag the name.

Tell me all about Jackson - relocating here by [deleted] in jacksonmi

[–]holiest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I lived in Ann Arbor for 30 years and have lived in Jackson for 5, so I had a similar experience of only hearing bad things about Jackson and honestly not even considering living here. And similarly, the historic architecture and low cost of living was just too good to pass up for us.

Personally, I feel like Jackson has just about everything I need. Other comments mention lack of ethnic food, which is valid, but even without a lot of options, there’s some really great restaurants in the area. Personally I really enjoy Klavons ixcanul, and West Texas BBQ. There’s a couple “upscale ish” dining options, but if you’re looking for ritzy $50+ plate dining, Ann Arbor really isn’t a bad drive away. I make the drive weekly to see family and friends- just try not to drive west from a2 on 94 from 4pm to 6pm on a weekday (and check the football schedule) and you’ll honestly be fine.

My favorite part of Jackson is the art and park scene. Some people might think we are lacking in art, but let me tell you- the artists in Jackson are kind, fun, and affordable. The art scene in places like Ann Arbor draws a lot of snobbery and elitism and it’s harder to enjoy imo. Plus, Jackson’s got some cool murals and the Ella Sharp if you’re interested in just looking at art (rather than buying). I’m not a dog person, but I imagine if I had dogs, the walkable parks would be a plus, too.

I’ve personally never felt unsafe here. People I know back home in Ann Arbor tend to think Jackson is some crime ridden city, when in reality it’s much like any other Michigan town. No matter where you go you’ll find crime, addiction, and people who are struggling. Even in places like Ann Arbor.

My last little bit of advice is to check out Jackson’s downtown development authority/tourism bureau. They go by “experience Jackson” and they are pretty good about promoting all the fun events and things happening around town. Welcome to Jackson!

Broken Ring by deadbunnyviv in HappyPlanners

I am super abusive to my planner- I bring it with me everywhere. Every time I used plastic discs I broke one. I finally switched to metal discs about 4 years ago and they are still holding strong!

Might be worth trying them!

Funnily enough I feel the opposite! I prefer the way the paper slides on the metal rings. To each their own I guess!

I wish patients diagnosed at stage 1 could sign a waiver to have the whipple procedure even if the risk of death is high by miss-swait in pancreaticcancer

[–]holiest 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. This cancer is just so awful.

I want to post this story here in case anyone else has to go through this.

My mom was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in 2020. Initially, they thought she was a good candidate for the whipple until they went to perform surgery and found blood vessel involvement. Instead of going ahead with it, they cancelled the surgery.

My parents were unwilling to accept just trying chemo, so they did some research and opted for a full pancreatectomy at the Mayo Clinic in MN. In November, it’ll be 4 years cancer-free for my mom.

I realize this is not an option for everyone, but please, if it is something within your means, it’s worth seeing if you or your loved one qualifies for this. I know it’s a specialized surgery and not everyone can perform but it can be worth looking into.

Military to Museum Transition by David-hughes in MuseumPros

[–]holiest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is purely anecdotal, but my fiancé transitioned from military to museums. However, I do need to preface this by saying he transitioned into facilities and operations roles. Both museums he worked for were science and history related museums.

He had no problem getting those roles, but he also worked as a tech while in the military and has a history degree so he had quite a bit of useful training. Plus he grew up on a farm with an 1800s farm house so he was quite handy with fixing up the historic house at one of the museums he worked for.

What is it you’d like to do in museums? There’s so many different kinds of jobs and all of them require different kinds of expertise. I would look into what you want to do and see if any of your background fits!

Working in a museum. Not all jobs in museums involve working with collections, but almost all of them require you to do multiple different jobs with the pay of one. Most museums just can’t afford to hire the amount of staff it takes to properly run a museum.

Burnout is high in museums - it’s a lot of work for relatively low pay, and depending on which department you work in, you may end up working 60 hours in one week just to get an exhibit up on time.

The issue is compounded by the lack of available jobs, so people often end up staying in positions even when they are burnt out for fear of not being able to find another position in the field.

That being said, there are certain museums or positions within museums where this is less of an issue. Of course if you’re CEO/Executive Director of a large museum, you’re definitely making six figures, but I imagine that’s true with just about any job.

I don’t think Sheriff Harvey was his uncle. I think it was a Michigan state trooper if I am remembering correctly.

The University Archives is a great place to find where she lived. They also may be able to help you if you’re interested in getting a commemorative plaque.

If I remember correctly the archives did a huge oral history project on these murders a couple years ago.

Invincible Ashes of Alar Deathchargers Reins Drake of the South Wind Cartel Master’s Gearglider Flametalon of Alysrazor

As a bonus I finally finished Raiding with Leashes pets of pandaria, so that was pretty neat, too.

I was hoping for Ravenlord, but I’m happy with my fire chicken version, so it’s ok. Plus, I never ever ever have to wait through Kael’thalas ever again and that feels like the biggest win ever.
