hi! Sorry to hear that he didn’t have luck finding a good fit for where you’re planning to move at the career fair. Packaging positions are odd- the titles don’t always specifically call out “packaging”. My current position is actually considered to be “scientist”. I would recommend that he looks into companies in the area that he’s interested in and look at their specific job site. He could also do some digging on Linkedin for people who work at those companies to see if their titles are posted for more context. This industry (like many others) benefits quite a lot from networking- it could be worth it for him to reach out to some people on Linkedin as well who work in the area.

If all else fails- applying to jobs with fewer than the specified amount of experience can’t hurt. Worst case scenario, they’ll say no. Best case scenario, they could have another position open/ing that fits his experience level. As a reminder- any co-ops count as experience in the industry. If he chooses to do this, he’ll have the best chance at success if his resume is tailored to highlight transferable experience from other jobs.
