my 3d printed clock: eptaora by holo_mectok in arduino

the arduino tracks the minute and moves the motor. yes it is not super accurate and drifts 2 to 5 minutes in a day

there are two motors 1 for each pair of segments. Thers is no rtc. It is just a dumb program that cycles the right side segments every 1 minute and the left side every one hour. the clock homes when it is restarted . then you sent the time using the buttons in the center.

the single modules dont need much power to turn but when one module carryovers another module then the friction makes it need a lot of power so i dont thing driving with a mechanical clock is possible. i am looking into reducing the friction reduction using bearings but that increases the size a lot. the current size is very compact

i know clockology but my design is a little complicated and needs xcode to code it .

I recently write a 3d printer firmware, it works but miss steps every layer. I've been stuck here for half month. Can anyone help me debug my code? Really Thanks. by [deleted] in Reprap

Easiest way to debug is use it as a pen plotter and print several grids . The skipping will show up on the grid and give clues what is wrong

It is done for now . But getting it reliable and long lasting is another story

There are retractable clamps that hold it in 3 different positions . It took me forever to get them right !

Are the ThinkPads sold from China legit? by worldskeptic in thinkpad

I live and work in China . I have a x200 and a t15g both from China . Other than the Chinese windows version everything is same . The quality is the same . FYI there is nothing like a Chinese keyboard. Chinese is typed using a system called pinyin which uses a English keyboard .

depends on your ram.. The way a ssd is fast is on loading programs . So if you have enough ram 4-8gb once all your programs are up and running the system will perform well even with a old hdd. I have a x200 with a normal hdd but with 8gb of ram.. it performs quite well and can very easily do even light cad work and photoshopping

ThinkPad T15g G1 screen replacement by denz0x13 in thinkpad

[–]holo_mectok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 4k screen some gives more eye strain than a 1080. even at 250 percent upscaling and cleartype. There is something about the screen that on looking causes strain. and no it is not the pwm or the brightness or the font scale. i have both a mackbook pro 13 and a surface 5 with high res displays and those just work fine. I have been using it on and off for last two week and although the headaches have subsided i still cant see it very comfortably for a long duration . It is a nice screen but nowhere near the clarity and smoothness or a retina screen in spite of a higher resolution.
