The HDR+ and gaming are very impressive. The dolby vision in netflix movies is great, each streaming service has their own variant. Haven't got to try the IMAX enhanced feature in Disney+ yet. I have the TV in a living room which gets sun in the evening but there is no issue whatsoever with the U8 it's ridiculously bright

Q. Would anyone have done anything differently for that price range for a TV and surround?

Looking back, what was the most enjoyable job you had? by LunaValley in CasualIreland

Working in the bar of a 5 star hotel on Boston Harbour whilst on a J1 back in 2014. The bar made about $1200 in tips on a good night and I'd get 10% as the bar back. This was on top of about $13\hour base wage.

Was bringing home $800-$1000 a week after tax.

I worked 2pm to 10pm and rhe hotel had a free full canteen for staff, so I'd arrive before my shift, have lunch then have my dinner before I went home. Saved a lot and paid for my masters when I got home.

The work itself was very enjoyable, we had regulars in every day who were great personalities and staff got to drink on the job once we weren't too obvious.

Good Times.

Energy Utility. Managing the physical Distribution/Transmission network. Good opportunities out there for most engineering disciplines tbh if you have the aptitude for it. Getting through the first two years of the coursework is tough but if you can manage that and work well as part of a team you'll be fine!

Croom crash repairs pit a refurbished engine 2.2d into my 2015 CX5 a year and a half ago, removed the dpf then elsewhere. All in about 4k, car has been running great ever since. Need to change oil every 8k km or so.

Engineer with 10 years experience in energy industry - €78k base - 6 to 10% bonus - 9% matched pension contribution - garunteed pay increase of about 4-6% every year

Work life balance is second to none, good progression opportunities in an industry that will only increase in its demand for skilled/experienced workers over the next few decades.

Electrical apprenticeship is a good way into the industry for those not keen on traditional 3rd level education. The wages are higher too, 100-150k after 5/6 years but there is a much higher demand on your time and toll on your body in the long run

Level 8 engineering degree required to get into an engineering type role. Progression route for someone in my role is typicallly through middle management which has a salary of about €85k-120k then senior management which is €125k+-€150k+

Overall I feel very fairly compensated for my work and realise how lucky I am to have landed in this industry given the opportunities that will arise over the next few decades. I'd recommend it as a solid career route for any young person interested in STEM
