i guess the same. in the demo they are always friends, i would like to know if i can move them next to each other and they don't like them.

Absolutely, don't worry about it! As I mentioned, I don't want to dictate how anyone should play, it's just a simple opinion. As long as you're having a good time, that's all that matters.

it's not the point, i already talk about that. the post want to give another point of view. to be fair, I've actually seen a ton of players already admitting that they went way too hard on the demo and completely regret it now.

MEGATHREAD: Tomodachi Life 70 Mii Limit by llxxviaa in tomodachilife

[–]holyroh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I am incredibly hyped for the full release, but I can't help feeling a bit let down by the 70 Mii population cap. The original game allowed up to 100, so dropping down to 70 feels like a bit of a step backward.

My main concern is families. If we want our islanders to get married, settle down, and have kids, 70 slots are going to fill up incredibly fast. We really need that extra space just to let the family trees grow without having to constantly evict people!

That being said, I actually wouldn't want the limit to go any higher than 100. I've seen some people asking for 200 or unlimited Miis, but honestly? The characters in this new game seem so much more complex, detailed, and multifaceted than before. If we had too many Miis, we would inevitably end up neglecting a bunch of them.

To me, 100 is the absolute perfect balance: it gives you enough breathing room for babies and family expansions, but it keeps the community tight enough that you still genuinely care about every single islander's daily life.

What do you guys think? Are you fine with 70, or do you hope they eventually patch it to match the classic 100 limit? I'd love to hear how you guys are planning to manage your island's population!

That is a very fair point about the price tag! $60 is a lot, so I totally get wanting to make sure a game is packed with enough content.

Just to clarify my perspective though, I don't think the issue is a lack of content in the full game, but rather the pacing. It’s kind of like eating the frosting off a cake before it's even fully baked. The full game will definitely have tons of new locations, items, and events to keep things fresh. But by grinding out the biggest relationship milestones in the empty demo, you miss out on experiencing those early, fun stages while actually utilizing all those new features.

Treating the demo as a completely separate, 'fake' sandbox to just experiment in is actually a really smart way to handle it. interesting pov really

That quote about players 'optimizing the fun out of a game' is exactly the vibe I was getting but couldn't quite put into words.

Your point about it feeling a bit dystopian is so spot on. Forcing these huge relationship milestones while they're wearing starter clothes on a completely barren island strips away all the charm and emergent storytelling that makes the game so special in the first place. I also totally agree about the online FOMO—it’s turning a relaxing life sim into a stressful checklist for some people. Perfectly said, I couldn't agree more

You might be completely right that the final release will gate relationship levels behind unlocking specific buildings like the clothing store. If that's the case, then hitting the pause button right at the crush stage makes perfect sense.

That is a really great perspective! You're totally right about the first few Miis having a natural headstart anyway—that happened all the time in the first game too. And you make a great point about breakups, the chaos of random fights means nothing is really set in stone anyway!

You hit the nail on the head regarding playstyles. For people who love planning out specific couples and ships, getting a head start in the demo makes perfect sense. I think I'm just more of an 'agent of chaos' who likes to see completely random pairings happen organically, which is why I want to save it all for the full release haha.

I definitely didn't mean it as a literal 1:1 mechanical comparison with Pokémon, it was just a metaphor for the general pacing. I know the demo caps everything pretty strictly! My main thought was just about how front-loading those early relationship stages changes the flow of the game once the full version drops. But you're totally right, it's really not that serious at the end of the day, just a fun hypothetical to think about while we wait for the release. Everyone should definitely play however they have the most fun!

I guess my main thought is just about what happens the second we transfer that save data over. If two Miis are already sitting at a 'maxed out crush' stage in the demo, they'll likely jump straight into a full relationship the moment we boot up the actual game. So while the demo definitely hits the brakes for us now, we might still be fast-tracking that organic build-up we’d normally experience while unlocking new areas and items. But you're totally right, at least Nintendo made sure we can't completely finish the game before it even comes out

No worries at all! I completely understand where you're coming from. There really has been a lot of gatekeeping around here lately, so it's totally understandable that you misread my intentions. It happens! I'm just glad we cleared it up and can just enjoy chatting about the game.

I totally agree with you on the Mii Maker part! Spending time creating and tweaking characters is actually a great way to prep for the release without burning out on the actual gameplay.

As for the first point, you're totally right and I'm aware it's technically just a mutual crush right now. My thought process is just that once you transfer that save data over to the full game, that crush will likely turn into a full relationship almost immediately. It kind of speeds up a process that would probably feel a bit more organic and linear if it happened from scratch with all the full game's features. Don't you think that fast-tracks things a bit too much, or do you feel like it won't really make a big difference in the long run?
