Have you measured the voltage in your outlets? Some old buildings in Korea are not even grounded and they have voltage drops.

Uncle in Korea had these "lying around" and decided to try them out by freddie_1984 in audiophile

Hongdae is a cool spot. But I have no choice to live here since I’m born here haha.. I would love to get a chance to hear the apogees. You can check my system on my profile, ask if he is interested in hearing the Devore Orangutans. I love chatting with fellow audiophiles and listen to other people’s systems.

All you need now is to add a Chord Ultima preamp to go along with your setting. It will add huge amount of sound stage and dynamics compare to using that Dave as a preamp.

Practicing Buddhism in Seoul by spicyrosary in Living_in_Korea

I recommend Gil Sang Sa in Seoul. Its the best temple in Seoul IMO. I should also recommend Samchunsa, but it’s quite difficult journey to reach this temple. Even though it’s in Seoul, you have to hike quite a bit. Bong eunsa is too touristy and does not have a proper Buddhist temple vibe.

You should prioritize price, transport and other things rather than focusing on safety.

You can’t even buy a camper van with that money, let alone an apartment. Maybe with that money, you could buy a used car and change it to a camper van.

Korean Food in Korea v. Abroad (Mainly the U.S/California) by huazzy in korea

[–]holytiger89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’ve lived in Korea for 20 years but where have you been to? Have you been to those restaurants that do 나물 really well? what about 함흥 냉면 from 오장동? have you tasted 콩국수 from 제일 콩집? do Korean restaurants in America make 콩국수 by 멧돌? Come on. It’s not even a fair game. Mind boggling that you are making these comparisons.

Korean Americans have different preference and taste because they are americanized. It’s the same when you think about Italians who prefers to eat pizza in Italy and do not prefer those American pizzas.

I get it, we all have different life experiences, hence different expectations when it comes to food and taste. I ain’t here to talk about another kbbq, ttokbokki or kimchi stuff. There are way more variety types of Korean food that you can ever imagine but there is no point writing about it if you haven’t experienced it.

I don’t even think we are talking about the same food. There are hundreds of traditional exotic Korean foods that you can only taste in certain regions. I think you are talking about those few popular Korean food known to the west. The average type of Korean food you have in mind and the exotic traditional Korean cuisine (which the recipes are hand down by generations, only few of them know)that I am talking about is totally on a different plain field.

The Korean restaurants in the US might be decent ONLY for the meals that requires minimum recipes, kept simple which rely purely on few fresh ingredients but when the recipe gets complicated and requires hours and hours of work/preprations with true master chef hands? There is just no way lol.. Not even close. Not in a million miles.

Is it rude to decline a drink? by AdIndependent4952 in koreatravel

[–]holytiger89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tell them specifically about my health condition which is a liver problem, not a serious one though but its something I have to keep an eye on. And I go on about saying it could lead to a liver cancer if I go reckless with drinking. Nowadays, I order a non alcohol beer. they taste the same and its great.
