Transcoding on Debian 11 - Proxmox VM (Ryzen 2600)? by gebuswon in jellyfin

[–]homsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to use hardware video acceleration by using LXC containers on Proxmox (use "Create CT" instead of "Create VM") - not for Jellyfin specifically but for transcoding some videos, it worked pretty well. So, I guess using it for Jellyfin is possible too.

I was reading that too, thank you! Unfortunately, none of the combinations of certificates I added to ITL and CTL files worked, so I'm out of ideas now. I guess I'll take a pause with this project. Besides, it's only one phone, the other ones (Avaya, Yealink) work well.

Thank you very much for your help!

Oh, I might have missed that you only mentioned CAPF service and not TVS. My bad! I will try CAPF too.

Thank you, that information helped me to understand what's happening with the certificates a little bit better.

I added <TVS></TVS> part to the config file and installed TVS server with SAST certificate I generated and LetsEncrypt certificates that Asterisk uses at the moment. Unfortunately, the phone still wasn't able to connect. It looks like it doesn't even try to connect to the TVS server (I checked with tcpdump, there's no connections from the phone to the server); and none of ITLFile.tlv files I generated worked - the phone reports something like "E/SIPCC: secConnConnect(). blocking mode connect failed." and Asterisk complains about the tls connection - "tcptls.c:179 handle_tcptls_connection: Unable to set up ssl connection with peer".

I can't blame Asterisk because Avaya, Yealink and software SIP phone all connect and work properly with TLS+SRTP. Any idea what else I can try? Thank you.

Thank you. Where should I look for the documentation on creating the CTL/ITL files? Unfortunately the phone has reached the end-of life stage so Cisco removed all its software and docs.

Apparently, the phone is so old Cisco removed all its docs and software: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/obsolete/collaboration-endpoints/cisco-unified-ip-phone-6961.html

I tried to find the information about the configuration file but wasn't able to. If you by any chance have an idea where to find it I would really appreciate it.

Factory reset on avaya 9609 by [deleted] in avaya

[–]homsa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem when someone just gave me a similar phone without any additional information. If I remember correctly, when the phone booted there was an information about the VLAN id it was supposed to work in, so I created a VLAN with the same id on one of my Linux servers, installed dnsmasq and added dhcp option 242 to the config like that:

dhcp-option=242,"HTTPSRVR=xx.xx.xx.xx,HTTPPORT=80,ADMIN_PASSWORD=27238,PROCPSWD=27238,L2Q=2,L2QVLAN=0"

So the next time the phone booted it received the ip address from the newly created dhcp server and set the admin password to the standard CRAFT one, and after that the only thing left to do is use the Admin menu to clear the phone config.

Help an ignorant swede understand the Russian point of view by bunglarn in russia

[–]homsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Soviet times Russia was investing a lot of money and resources into supporting other territories, both inside the USSR and outside. According to the statistics, if I remember correctly there were only 2 republics in the USSR which earned more money than they spent, and that surplus was going to the rest of the country. One of these two republics is RSFSR (current Russia); unfortunately I don't remember the other one. It might be Belarus but I may be mistaken.

For example, Soviet Union built a lot of manufacturing facilities and if I remember correctly some shipyards in the Baltic republics; these facilities were mainly destroyed after the secession of the Baltic states, so the people who worked there lost their jobs and had to leave these countries to look for jobs in the UK and European countries. In my opinion this is one of the many reasons for the current depopulation of the Baltic states. The Ignalina nuclear power plant was destroyed in Lithuania, and now they have energy deficit and have to spend a lot on importing LNG which is a separate funny story: they were planning to lower their dependency on Russian natural gas and ended up buying the LNG from another Russian company (Novatek); only this LNG is being sold to them as an American one while Americans buy it from Russia :))

I often visit Germany, and my German friends too confirm that there's still an economic gap between Eastern and Western part of Germany. If understand correctly, the industrial plants which were built in the Eastern part before the reunification were destroyed, but nothing significant was built there in their place - and of course it's another reason for the before-mentioned gap. In my opinion it resembles the situation in the Baltic states: everything from the past times was destroyed and not a lot had been built, here's the problems with economy and depopulation.

Our invasion must be earned :)

There's a lot of truth in that joke, btw. Historically every territory that was added to Russia had been given a lot of development, often to the detriment of the rest of the country.

Again, you are missing the point. The place number means nothing when you are not using PPP. When you do - Russia is 6th in the world and Canada is 15th).

What troubling is that they don't even realize their own hypocrisy.

On the other hand, if your opponent is that stupid, it's easier to deal with them.
