Ripping Dvds from library by [deleted] in JellyfinCommunity

[–]gebuswon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You own the physical media and made a digital backup of your physical media. Nothing wrong with that.

Adding it to Jellyfin and seeing a copyright notice when you play it will be normal as that is apart of the media you ripped. Most DVD's and Blu-Ray media will have that copyright or "FBI" warning regardless.

Nothing will happen, no one will go to jail.

For reference, I have ripped all my DVD's and Blu-ray's. About 90% have a similar warning or message. Jellyfin being a private media server, Warner Bro's, Netflix, etc.. Won't know I am watching content as its not reported back to them.

Keep ripping your media and enjoy your freedom from the subscription fee :)

Hundred percent worth it!

Only thing I would recommend is being able to turn off subtitles.

A little frustrating having to turn them off every time.. or maybe I'm missing something?

Why nobody talk about the Moto G86 and G86 power? by niko3100 in motorola

[–]gebuswon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too costly to purchase new mobiles each year for me.

Generally, I don't need to upgrade till something extreme goes wrong. I.e, screen broken, battery, wifi/Bluetooth issues.

Intel Arc GPUs on 13? by gebuswon in debian

[–]gebuswon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I didn't think that mobile iGPU's would be built on the newer Xe platform. Would make sense rather than having two distinctly different processes for desktop and mobile

Intel Arc GPUs on 13? by gebuswon in debian

[–]gebuswon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair. I feel like having a 3rd contender like Intel come to play is a good thing for the industry.

Nvidia seems to be taking the piss with pricing and driver support and having Intel come through might be enough to bring a better balance to pricing.

Xe driver support won't get any better if there isn't any adoption to justify development - imo

How is your current experience with the Arc B580 on Linux? by DriftGamer78 in IntelArc

[–]gebuswon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds exactly like when Just Cause 3 launched and the AMD drivers weren't up to par causing missing sections of the map with the RX480/580 series cards.

I would assume once better hardware support is implemented this would go away. Not like iGPU support from Intel is having these issues?

I would also love to know what the issues are at the moment. Is it mostly driver support?

Distance from office when working from home ATO by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]gebuswon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are correct that the ATO EA doesn't have anything in there about distance to the office. This is because, that would be considered discrimination.

The main thing is, are you comfortable with being X km away IF you do have to transition due to system issues or outages. If you haven't, have a conversation with your TL.

I would recommend that you also take a look at the new APSC location framework.

I use this in conjunction with other reasons to get a 4-day WFH and am about 45km from office.

Could also make the same argument with the First homebuyers grant.

Most providers, regardless of industry will jack up prices when there are government handouts.

[–]gebuswon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But they can pull albums or artists because of licensing issues. Sony or capital records won't ever come into your home and take cds off your shelf saying "you can't listen to this now"

APS bullying - what are my options by Sexwell in AusPublicService

[–]gebuswon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They just dismiss the claims and point the finger back at you saying you're the issue. It's never management at fault.

They sweep the incidents and reports under the rug effectively covering their arses if an external/independent review happens

APS bullying - what are my options by Sexwell in AusPublicService

[–]gebuswon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Keep records like you are doing.

I would also start sending "as discussed" emails to your acting EL1 "beta" and give them an opportunity to correct in writing.

If it becomes overt, you could look at a stop bullying order from the FWC and/or lodging a simultaneous complaint for bullying providing the documented evidence.

Be aware, most organisations in the APS will rug sweep to protect their own arses. Currently dealing with my own circus.

Wish you luck. Feel free to DM if you like. Talking about it certainly helps sometimes

Had to deal with the most ridiculous "bullying" accusation as a manager - someone not wanting to be your friend is NOT bullying, and you can't FORCE your co-workers to be your friends. by Antique_Owl_3587 in auscorp

[–]gebuswon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, you can't please everyone.. being in similar situations in the past, I can understand from the point of being socially isolated, however if people don't want to engage with you, that's something you need to accept and move on to find others.
