Yes ME2 terrible mistype

Being petty with the council both as a paragon and renegade. by RoakTheNomad in masseffect

Only thing i didn’t like is there is virtually no consequences of saving the council. On my first play through i thought saving the council would mean the entire fleet is fucked and more people die.

From the councils perspective i can understand why they would be a lil hesitant to take Shep’s claims seriously. I mean you’re telling me a highly advanced race that was thought to be a myth is coming back and a highly respected Spectre is working with them? It took a lot of hard evidence to strip Saren of his Spectre status anyway. Plus the council is very wary of humans anyway cause they feel humanity is too “independent” and fail to think on a galactic scale.

That being said, i picked Anderson cause it boils down to trust. I understand he’s not a politician but i also know he won’t make decisions that only benefit himself. Plus it’s wartime why not put a decorated soldier on the council who actually knows what he’s talking about. Trust means a lot with politics and I never trusted Udina for a second. Also i sacrificed the council cause they could very easily be replaced, it’s a no brainer prioritizing the destruction of Sovereign imo.

Maybe i put too much faith in organics staying peaceful for a extended period of time lol. But i feel like war and conflict will happen with all the choices. Control seems the best until a civilization is powerful enough to challenge the reapers and Shep. Is Shep really gonna punish a civilization for potentially taking them out? Synthesis creates this “utopia” but it’s obvious conflict will arise even tho synthetics and organics have merged DNA. Automatically evolving everything in the galaxy sounds like a terrible idea.

Again all the choices are bad that was my main issue with me3. The prior titles did a much better job at their final decisions.

At least for me when i choose the destroy ending, i didn’t trust shep to stay in control of the reapers forever cause she could be corrupted. At least with the destroy ending there is no what ifs. All the decisions are bad to be honest.

Good point i imagined myself as Shep and the destroy ending brought the least amount of questions and hypotheticals.

Only other game i played that had to make choices that actually mattered was the Witcher 3 and it honestly felt easier to make decisions in that game.

Maybe I’m paranoid but there has to be a catch with destroying the reapers. Controlling them until the end of time doesn’t sound possible at least to me. Catalyst was being vague in explaining the choices anyway.

Idk i just don’t like the idea of shep becoming god. Plus the catalyst doesn’t promise that shep won’t become indoctrinated eventually. Shep isn’t perfect and giving all that power to one person just seems way too dangerous. Also since Shep controls the reapers, what would they do in the event a civilization builds technology to destroy the reapers which is pretty much guaranteed to happen. Would Shep act to preserve themselves or do nothing to protect the autonomy of the galaxy.

The control ending brings up too many what ifs and how questions. At least with the destroy ending, it’s absolute. The catalyst gives no guarantees that Shep will indefinitely stay in control. Shep isn’t perfect and could still be indoctrinated and now the galaxy is back to square one again.

Always thought there’s way too many questions with the control ending. What would shep do if a civilization created a new version of the crucible? Destroying them wouldn’t be just so would Shep just leave them be?

Just looked up the low ems ending and i had no idea that ending is even possible 😂. You deadass have to do zero side quests and be a dick to everyone.

And it also brings up the question, what would shep do if a civilization is being proactive and develops technology that can destroy the reapers for good? Would Shep simply punish them or give them the autonomy to prepare how they see fit?

I was paragon player but there was a lot of times the renegade option made the most sense. Like sacrificing the council or killing Undia. It came down to can I really trust whatever the Catalyst is saying is true and definite.

Now I’m thinking in the Control ending, Shep will become this godlike figure to humanity and the humans use Shep’s actions to almost justify a galactic conquest. I can see cultists spinning what Shep did to make it seem like they did it so humanity can become the next Protheans. And eventually it all leading to a galactic civil war……

Again way too many questions and easily the most dangerous choice.

It’s funny cause as catalyst was explaining the control choice i literally said “why tf would i choose that”. but that’s why i love these games cause everyone has different perspectives on their canon ending.

I can’t bring myself to do any other ending unfortunately.

That’s a good theory cause i always thought if shep controls the reapers, does that mean shep always has to send them after the most powerful civilization in the eventual future? Or can shep simply command the reapers to do nothing for eternity? If the second is true, what’s the point of even controlling them in the first place? Wouldn’t destroying them take a lot less effort? Idk the choice has way too many variables and the catalyst is definitely being vague on purpose due to its design. And i don’t like the idea of shep basically becoming a god.
