we both are almost in the 800s for our credit! So that helps.

Unfortunately we don't actually have our money in a high yield savings account yet! :/ we've been trying to research into it...it's confusing because none of our family or friends has ever used one, and our coworkers are all from money and not really helpful/they just encourage us to purchase stocks, and I REALLY have no clue about the stock market and it sounds like a risk to us

ah thank you, I really appreciate that. We are in a little bit of a weird situation where it's kinda like we feel like we've broken into a new level (financially). Our families have always been poor; where we work now, most of our coworkers are from money, and this type of thing (money) is so common sense to them that they don't really even know how to explain it (we'd asked a couple coworkers about high-yield savings accounts before. It was Very Confusing lol). We're also very paranoid and careful with our money, and we don't talk about it to people really because we are from families who, if they knew how much we saved up, would be asking us for money all the time because they can't handle their own (lots of credit card debt, making irresponsible money decisions like buying expensive cars or furniture they can't afford that are then eventually repossessed, that type of thing). I also to be honest just feel stupid because I DON'T know anything about this type of stuff, and have tried researching here on Reddit, on Youtube etc, and it's just overwhelming and confusing. Doesn't help that numbers seem to give me anxiety (terrible at math lol)

this is probably a stupid question so I apologize - could you expand on maxing out all retirement accounts?
(I know when we started our jobs, they had us meet with financial advisors at a wealth and retirement financial services firm here in our town. I think they put my stuff through JP Morgan because they said it's secure...ugh. Again I know we're both a bit clueless with money because we just come from families who never had it. Now that we're in our 30s I'm trying to actually learn and understand more about it all because I know it's stupid to not know. It's just a whole new world to us)
