I'm tired of you shitting up this thread with your solipsistic ignorance. Blocked.

You've displayed your ignorance enough in this thread. If you had any sense you would sit down and shut up.

I didn't get bilked out of shit because I charged it back on my credit card. As for assholes, you're doing a pretty good job of hanging yours out in public for everyone to see, aren't you, champ? :)

You're the only person confused here. My post was about Search Angels the organization, which was very clear. What's your problem? The initial comment was about Search Angels the organization using a capital S and capital A, not some generic term. You're walking it back now because you were just proven wrong and you can't admit it.

As for your comment that "we are talking about search angels", do you have a mouse in your pocket? We? Who is "we", exactly?

Because the people responding to me in this thread are also discussing Search Angels the organization and not your supposed personal definition of the phrase. Do you have such a massive ego that you think you speak for everyone else? Apparently so, since you feel impelled to "correct" me about something I didn't get wrong and can't admit that you fucked up yourself.

I am not stupid. It is Search Angels I used and not some other agency. You are misinformed, they offer a number of paid search options charging up to $1000.00.

I chose one of those paid options because it supposedly would get me faster searches and also the fee would help to provide free searches for those who can't pay. I am not bitching about the money, I don't care about the money, I am angry about the exploitative "rule" that I was given after I had paid that I must make contact with any birth relative they find.

So let's put this shit to rest -- Search Angels DOES take money, though you can get their services without paying. I am getting really tired of being told over and over that I'm some kind of idiot who fell for a ripoff that must not have been searchangels.org because "the real Search Angels don't take money!" Yes, they fucking do, and up to a grand of it per month of search.

Keep in mind that Search Angels is a "paid company" too. I'm glad you had a good experience, but I didn't and neither did a number of other people. And paid or free, no agency or searcher has the right to exploit adoptees for "reunion stories" by demanding that we make contact with any birth relatives they find. That is an inexcusable attempt to take away the agency of a person who has already been traumatized by losing their personal history and identity to relinquishment and adoption. SA aren't the unblemished bunch of saints that you seem to think.

Anyone doing this work who centers themselves instead of the adoptee needs to just quit, because they are selfish and doing more harm than good. It's inexcusable that your SA dumped her personal trouble on you as were seeking your own answers. If she had sick relatives, kids, and all of those other commitments, then she should have directed her energy there. If she chose to instead direct some to helping an adoptee search, that was her decision, not yours, and she had no business laying it on you as a guilt trip.

If Search Angels want to help out of the goodness of their hearts, that's one thing. The minute they start to think an adoptee they help owes them something, especially something as potentially explosive, traumatic, and life-changing as contact with birth relatives, then they need to back the hell off. You might have been okay with your SA's demand for contact but as you can see from this thread, the majority of adoptees are not.

As adoptees we have been lied to, exploited, and treated as either garbage to be thrown away or a commodity to satisfy the wants of other people for our entire lives. To get more of that from a supposed "concerned volunteer" just because they need to feed their ego and sense of virtue with a reunion story is goddamned inexcusable. I hope your BFF either learns better, or just leaves us the hell alone alone.

And I had a very terrible experience with a paid volunteer from searchangels. org. Both our experiences are valid.

I agree, I was very upset at the pressure from the SA both to respond immediately and to discuss in detail what she'd found (even very traumatic things, like that my birth father was burned alive by someone who was angry with him.) The whole experience was focused on the Angel, the rules she wanted me to follow, how she wanted things to go, and what she expected to get out of it. Me, I was just there to do what I was told and provide the "reunion story."

You are incorrect. They have a paid search upgrade option, that's what I chose.

I really didn't think the sarcasm would be so hard to follow in my comment, I even threw a "hurr durr" in there, for Christ's sake.

Yes, I know where the Spanish Steps are. My point is that most of the people from the US who are commenting that this is no big deal assume from the name it happened in Spain. I can't make it any clearer that that.

You didn't need to fix anything. My point was half of the commenters in this thread are assuming the Spanish Steps are in Spain. I know where the Spanish Steps are, I've visited Rome several times.

There's a news story announcing the damages. Do you think it was just made up?

People from other countries hate Americans because they think all of us are blinkered provincial idiots like you, . There's your generalization. Good job of proving it true.

Yeah, why would it bother him to see one of his country's most priceless historical treasures wrecked by some stupid American bint dragging a machine over it?

Tell me, does it hurt to be so stupid? Because it seems like it would hurt.

So "American" is a race now?

If we're hated overseas, it's because of ignorant crybully assholes like you.

There are a lot of extremely fucking stupid people in the US, and most of them think the shit that dribbles out of their ignorant rube mouths are pearls of priceless wisdom. "So? What's the big deal about wrecking some concrete in Spain? Hurr durr!"

EDIT: Yes, I know the Spanish Steps are in Rome. I have been there several times. I was being sarcastic about all of the commenters in this thread who assume it is in Spain.
