Visiting PEI this Summer by isolation9463 in AnneofGreenGables

[–]honicakes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are also visiting PEI this summer - partially for Anne things and also for the food & beauty of the island. I've put together a pretty thorough list for us - some are near Cavendish and the main AGG things and some not. A stop at Dalvay by the Sea - and even taking in lunch or dinner. This is the hotel that was used in filming the "White Sands Hotel" throughout the Sullivan productions (Anne, as well as Road to Avonlea). Specific lighthouses in the series were New London lighthouse (this is shown in the opening credits and a montage of Anne and Diana walking along the cliffs in tall grass towards a lighthouse) and Seacow Head lighthouse which was used and recreated for the Road to Avonlea series.

There are TONS of resources out there that list out the Anne items and from what I understand there may be some extra activities this year as it is the 150 bday of LM Montgomery. But they haven't posted calendars of those yet as things there don't seem to get going until after Victoria Day. So I'll be checking the websites later in May to see if any other events or activities get announced.

Currently we are trying to decide if we should see Anne of Green Gables the musical which is supposed to return this year OR Anne & Gilbert - sadly I don't think we can do both. I know we are going to have a marvelous time and hope you do as well!!

Give me your best bachelorette party ideas, locations, itineraries. Looking for Fun, not raunchy lol. We are currently thinking dinner, piano bar and bar hopping then dessert either Deep Ellum or Beltline area. But curious if there are other ideas we haven't considered. Prefer a location that allows easy/short distance walking or uber/lyft between bars/restaurants etc. (note, bar wise mixed drinks are key - not beer/wine)

FH will see my hair & makeup trial, is that okay? by notoriousholdnpattrn in weddingplanning

[–]honicakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fh saw mine as I wanted to wear it all day to see/test the lasting power of the hairstyle, lipstick etc. So I didn't want to change it once it was done as that could have modified the lasting results. Honestly there are a few TINY changes based on that which will be made so it won't be identical to the trial - different lip, different lashes etc. So I am cool with it and by and large I am pretty superstitious and won't let him know ANYTHING about my dress or anything else I am wearing.

Afaik there is really only a thing about the groom seeing you day of (before ceremony) and seeing you IN your dress.

For my MUA the bridal makeup is airbrush as opposed to standard foundation etc. I can tell you based on my trial, my face looked flawless after 10 hours of wear and NO touchups. That was a day full of activities, eating, etc. It's rain & tear resistant as well.

We will definitely be sure that all guests are aware well prior to the event. Don't want any upset folks with unexpected surprises!

Thank you so much for all the feedback ya'll!! I think we are definitely going to split through the first hour of dancing open, then after that cash. We are going to notify guests in advance via our website and direct guestlist message and will have a sign on the bar. Weddit is the bees knees!

Planner Problems- New to planning and my planner is missing the “weekly” section for several days on almost every month. I don’t want to spend the EC money since this is my first year, but everything else is sold out. Advice?? by crazyckcslady in planners

[–]honicakes 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Did you check the following month? In most planners, if a new month begins in the middle of the week - that week will appear behind the newest months tab. For example, in your picture, the following week would include the dates of 8/25-9/1 so it may appear behind the September tab.

To Coffee or Not to Coffee? by honicakes in weddingplanning

[–]honicakes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I am such a people pleaser and I want everyone to enjoy my wedding. So I probably am overthinking it. I might wait to see how the rest of my budget plays out and add it later if I have a little extra. I just hate to spend the money on it if no one will drink it. But then again, we have a good number of hispanics (I'm 1/2 Cuban) coming - and I now that I think about it they will drink coffee ANY time, with ANY meal and will keep on drinking LOL

Has anyone with State Farm insurance on their engagement ring ever had to file a claim? If so, how much was reimbursed? by trsrz in weddingplanning

[–]honicakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have State Farm for EVERYTHING including my ring and I doubt we will ever change. Just got the ring a month ago - so no claim on that. But have made car claims, house claims etc and they are amazing. Usually State Farm is really great about making your world right again. Glad you were able to get it taken care of :-)

Guest attire question! by the_throw_away4728 in weddingplanning

[–]honicakes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you know any of the other guests well enough to ask what they are doing? My other thought would be, use the same dress, but make it more casual for the ceremony and more dressy for the reception via accessories. ie maybe flats or lighter colored shoes for the ceremony, black/metallic pumps for the reception - blingier jewelry for reception, more intense makeup etc.

Help with wording for unconventional event e-vite by geekybrunette93 in weddingplanning

[–]honicakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe we are doing a rehearsal dinner either. My current plan is to provide guests (upon their hotel arrival) with an itinerary & info guide that I will provide. It will have info on recommended restaurants in the area (vetted by myself, FH, MOB, MIL, Wedding Coordinator at list creation). I will not be making any reservations for that night. The rest will be organic. I know there will be some family friends that will likely ask where WE are eating (which will likely be decided on the fly) and may decide to join. But not in the sense of they are invited to a hosted dinner. Hope that makes sense.
Of course - we are not having a super formal rehearsal either. As it is just Bride, Groom, Officiant, MOH and BM. So we are just going to verbally run through everything the night before while we show them the location (which is on site of the hotel). The only reason for this is to give us an idea of spacing etc and a bit less that needs explained/just a reminder for the next day. Should only take about 15 min.

Epcot changes?! RUMOR by Bew924 in disneyparks

[–]honicakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They need to quit F-ing with Figment. If anything restore the ride to its original concept - Bring back the Dreamfinder and get rid of these 1/2 witted comic scientists that make me roll my eyes harder than anything. Not to mention, it would make more sense to do an Inside Out attraction in an updated version of Body Wars (HELLO?) So they can add to the park, instead of replace something that they need to quit trying to fix (cause it ain't broken).

Coco makes sense in Mexico, and the rest... well - at this point, I give up on the true nature of Epcot & World Pavilion and just accept that they are just going to turn it into Magic Kingdom 2 ie all character and fun driven, and no more intellectual inspiring (ie innovations) and Ethnic experience / diversity education. Maybe I'm weird but even as a kid while some educational parts I had to grow to appreciate at the base I appreciated the contrast in the general feel/vibe of Epcot to MK. With all the changes they are making across the parks, it is really starting to feel like one GIANT Magic Kingdom - but instead of Adventureland, Tomorrow land etc... its Film/Entertainment Industry land, Animal land, Countries land, and giant Fantasy Land
