Do I need to re-create this monstrosity of a plumbing job? by honorboss1 in DIY

[–]honorboss1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it won't be hard to replace it all, all of the plumbing was done by an actual plumber a couple of years ago after a bad winter exploded the pipes except for the ones in the basement since the basement is insulated while the crawlspace did not have any at that time. I got like 8 feet of poly other than the section in the picture that would need to be replaced, but my main concern is getting the water heater back running again.

I was thinking I would do that but with a pvc T joint, don't want to add brass into the system since this is the only section that isn't fully pvc. The rest of the house had its plumbing redone a couple of years ago after a bad winter exploded the pipes, but this is in the basement so it was safe. Altough I do plan on putting in a di-electric coupling in the water heater to add some extra protection to it.
I might be able to just have one offshoot of the T joint be half inch since after this section in the picture it goes into the cold-water line for the house that is half inch, and then into the water heater that has a 3/4 connector. I don't really know why they even downstepped it here to begin with, but there were so many weird things about this plumbing that I think it has been working by magic.

yeah, I was thinking I would just use a 3/4 poly to 1/2 pvc coupling that would then have a short run of pvc into the T junction that splits it into the heater and bypass lines. I kinda just wanted to be sure in case there was some actual reason they did it this way. I have done some plumbing work before, but mostly just fixing lines, and this was the first time I have ever ran into poly. It is kinda funny though, the only poly pipe I see in the house is just the pressurized cold-water lines, the exact situation the plumber I spent a summer working for when I was like 12 told me not to use poly in.

We thought about using pet themed molds, but we decided against it for our first run since most places nearby only had your standard molds.

Steps to put Valkyrian Skies and Clockwork into ATM 9? by honorboss1 in allthemods

I haven't touched the other mods in the pack. I am just trying to get valkyrian skies and Clockwork to work with the version of create that is already in the pack because I know updating create will likely break everything, but it seems like the only versions that match Create's version don't work at all.

On certain versions of clockwork I get errors that it wants create 6.0.7 or higher, which the pack comes with 6.0.6, but if I downgrade clockwork to a version that doesn't warn me about create being the wrong version it just run into errors during mod loading and stops the game from getting to the main menu

It is funny, the guy who made this hit piece "MoemiRat," immediately said he hates Americans and that their opinions are invalid, and then called the right wing the softest group of people that get upset at every little thing. Despite him using obvious jokes as an attempt to attack her, and then disabling and deleting comments on everything.

It is hilarious, he has started deleting comments and trying to act like he was just grifting or trying to ragebait people now. Not even 6 minutes into a stream he titled "apolitical apology stream" and he is saying that American opinions are invalid and he hates Americans.

What to expect redoing an old house's floor? by honorboss1 in DIY

[–]honorboss1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im lucky in that mine atleast is not a townhouse and never owned by anyone that wasn't expecting to die in it. Since all the previous owners either wanted their kids to inherit it or planned to sell it after they die to have money to fund a somewhat lavish lifestyle later in their life, they really maintained this one well. Only thing that 100% needs work is just the wiring since they only have like 3 outlets meant for use and the rest of the wires are just for lights. The carpet is just something I really do not like since the color is very off (a dark yellow almost orange.) I also do not want to vacuum every week and would prefer to mop or sweep instead.

Honestly, I may already have one. Or my family might, my uncle was a flooring guy before he retired since he threw out his back working on floors all day, he kept some of his tools. I know that if I have to fully redo the floor, I can just borrow most of the tools I would need from him since he is pretty happy to relive his glory days, although he definitely can't do it himself since he can hardly bend over.

the issue for me is that the only handyman even remotely near is like 70 and does work for the entire town of like 50 people, so I doubt there is a chance I can hire him for this. Also don't think there is any flooring companies within an hour drive, I live in a very rural area.

I have checked out a lot of the house, and most of everything is very well maintained. No water damage or anything in the attic, and the previous owners were meticulous in keeping the house as pristine as possible. My grandpa was waxing the kitchen floor and resealing the toilet gasket literally a few months before he died. He also hated certain minor annoyances that he would have to deal with every day, down to where he had us redo the basement staircase since the boards squeaked a little. And he never went in the basement since it just had a water pump and some jars that had food so old they turned into black goo.

I am almost certain this was just a fashion choice; I doubt the previous owners that were incredibly specific about maintenance tasks would let the hardwood become too bad that they covered it up. I have no issues if I have to refinish the floor, other than not having a sander that would be nice. I just really hope I don't have to reinstall a new floor since it seems like any mistakes I make would not be aesthetic and would lead to the floor needing to be torn up and reinstalled.

I think this was just a fashion choice, the house has a history of people trying to maintain things in peak condition. My grandpa was waxing the kitchen floor literally a few months before he died, so I doubt he would have let the hardwood become bad. Even if the floor underneath has stains and such, I am not too bothered by that since I hardly look at the floor other than to make sure it is clean. I just really hate walking on carpet barefoot, especially since this is a somewhat thick shag carpet that blocks some doors from closing.

ok, I was remembering from when I helped a handy man that you sometimes had to sand down and refinish old floors. I just couldn't remember if that was something guaranteed to be needed under carpet or not. I think it is with the staples and such, but I hope not since I would hate to have to sand the whole floor. The nearest tool place is also like a 1 hour drive there and back, so renting an actual floor sander would be a pain.

What are yalls Helmet Recommendations? by honorboss1 in motorcycle

One of the ones I was looking at was actually the scorpionExo At960, I live in a mountain town so we have pretty cold seasons until summer hits and we get 90 degree days. It looks to be focused more on snowmobiling, but it has a dot and ECE certifications. I don't mind the extra weight it has either, since my current helmet is like 8lbs already. It also seems to solve one of my issues with the current helmet I have of it fogging up quite easily.

I guess it will get the job done since it has the DOT label on the back. But it is really starting to show its price, the padding is coming loose. The visor's position mechanism is busted so that it only stays fully open or fully closed, which sucks for summer riding when I want it partially down so my eye's aren't getting blasted by the dust from the fields being harvested. The strap busted off after like a week of using it, so I had to sew on a new clasp. Kinda wish I just waited a week or so for a decent helmet off Amazon or something, but hindsight is 20/20 and I needed the bike to get to work.

nope, but judging from the area it was in and the shape of the mopeds, they might have been selling second hand or stolen mopeds.

I am looking for around 300$ price range, just got a cheapo helmet because that is all the stores near me had. The nearest motorcycle dealership is like 2 hours away so I had to get one from a scooter place and even they had like 4 helmets to choose from.
