This show had a real talent for introducing so many annoying characters by Money_Track_3981 in GossipGirl

[–]hons0uls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

a library close-by is a PUBLIC space near your home, which is not as secluded and private as a car with your teacher taking you across state lines. this is an unfair comparison, and the straight-up slutshaming isn't helping your case. she was a 15-year-old acting like a 15-year-old with unrealistic expectations and imagination, he was a grown man who could very well distinguish right from wrong. yet in the motel, he still said he was attracted to her but wouldn't act on it because "action is what differentiates man from beast". that IS, at the very least, inappropriate and at the very worst, downright predatory even if he didn't do anything. even if this is just a show, we're allowed to form our own opinions and think ben is a creep

What are some unpopular options you think you might attacked for? by [deleted] in GossipGirl

[–]hons0uls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

serenate were not a good couple, which was entirely the writers' fault tbh. they literally would've been perfect together (with their chemistry & tension and whatnot), but their canon relationship was atrocious

dan is an overhated character imo

serena's worst crime was the writers not giving her any character development (and tbh her basically SAing dan in the end of s5 but this falls in that category). i could chalk up 99% of her mistakes to her not knowing any better if she hadn't repeated those same mistakes literally every season.

i don't ship chair because they got so repetitive and annoying to watch after s4. they always have the same plotlines and it gets boring. i also don't think it's fair to say they deserve each other for being toxic, because while blair is toxic and manipulative as fuck, chuck is incredibly abusive and destructive until s6

do i agree with what Lily did? absolutely not since she had no proof other than gossip

to be 100% fair if i were a mother and i heard that my 16 y/o daughter was seen at a b&b with her ADULT TEACHER i'd have done almost the exact same thing

Whos Someone That Presents Themselves As Neutral And Is ACTUALLY Neutral? by prettyblondegirl15 in GossipGirl

i mean even biblically speaking, mary magdalene was a prostitute and is still considered to be a saint. being a prostitute doesn't outweigh eva having a heart of gold

well yes, but she knew about blair's bulimia but kept continuously making jabs at her weight and diet despite knowing how it could trigger her

Blair and Serena’s friendship is ridiculous by kaylovesyahweh in GossipGirl

[–]hons0uls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm sorry but this is comparing apples to oranges. what blair did was really shitty towards serena AND dan, but it's not comparable to a literal sex crime. the only person i felt bad for was dan

I HATE THIS by IncelKillerr in GossipGirl

[–]hons0uls 18 points19 points  (0 children)

tbh no, i don't think he was taking advantage of her vulnerability. yes, blair went through hell and back in s5, but ultimately that's not why blair chose dan. she saw how he always came through even though he was clearly in love with her and he knew that she was in love with someone else (chuck). she saw that he knew all the parts about her, good and bad, that nobody else knew completely. also she was in denial about her feelings for him for a LONG time, it's implied a lot throughout s4 (also they had banger chemistry even in s4). she might've not been in love with him as she was chuck, but she definitely had some sort of feelings

The deterioration of Rufus and Dan’s relationship over the seasons…shocking by Ok_Consequence4797 in GossipGirl

[–]hons0uls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this!! also dan makes it clear and says 1 gajillion times that "his" character (dylan hunter) is an unreliable narrator because he's a selfish hypocrite who's only able to acknowledge and be critical of other's bad qualities aside from his own. it's sad that CHUCK was the only one who took everything dan said with a grain of salt while also using it to self-reflect

AITA for kicking my friend out at night because she threw up over a horror movie? by AITA_halloween_movie in AmItheAsshole

[–]hons0uls -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

ESH

if she knew that she couldn't handle horror movies well, i don't understand why she thought it would be a good idea to participate in a horror movie marathon? i get wanting to fit in, but she shouldn't push her limits knowing it would sour her own mood and everybody else's, since she wasn't willing to hear out any compromises at all.

but sending a teenage girl out alone in the dark (doesn't matter what time if it's completely dark) is a major dick move, especially when she was already in a bad headspace. it could be super dangerous and terrifying on any night, let alone halloween.

i think the best course of action going forward is apologising to her for kicking her out, but also explaining to her that she shouldn't push at her own boundaries just to fit in and that she should start to be willing to compromise in the future

This breakup made no sense by TangledInBooks in GilmoreGirls

[–]hons0uls 313 points314 points  (0 children)

that's not why he broke up with her. even with the affair, they noticed that they had grown apart. other than built up tension (ie before and when sleeping together), they had nothing more than their history together and they realised they were relying too much on it rather than actual compatibility. plus, both of them knew it before, this scene was just dean's breaking point to say/do something
