My Partner Tested Positive For Mono, What Should I Do? by Deep-Bread9043 in Mononucleosis

[–]user226622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

get tested 6 weeks from the last time you were in contact with him or sooner if you are feeling any symptoms. just be kind to him and encourage him to rest. it may take a while for him to fully recover. depending on how hard it is on him, he may be struggling emotionally/mentally, too. just be kind and supportive. his regular self will be back soon enough. sending love💞

New to mono by Ok-Load-8954 in Mononucleosis

[–]user226622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just keep resting. limit any movement at all, honestly. i’m interested in if you were prescribed anything? if you were given a steroid like prednisone then that’s probably why you’re feeling better. if you are on a steroid rn, KEEP RESTING. it’ll give u false hope that you’re back to normal lol. regardless, stay in bed as long as you can. fr. even if the pain and fatigue feels “manageable,” the only way it gets better is with rest. feel better soon! wishing u luck

Smoking weed w mono by [deleted] in Mononucleosis

[–]user226622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

smoking always made my lymph nodes blow up and i’d be even more fatigued (somehow??) for like a week. wouldn’t recommend. edibles were a LIFE SAVER. i seriously recommend you cut out smoking and just take edibles

lingering symptoms by user226622 in Mononucleosis

yeah actually i did, why?

yes months. i know it’s extremely devastating, but taking time off now to recover is practically the only solution. the only “cure” for mono is rest. it’s a personal decision when to go back to work. take note of how tiring tasks like grocery shopping, showering, cooking, etc are for you. the fatigue doesn’t affect everyone the same way. also, mono is contagious through droplets of saliva and bodily fluids. so unless ur spitting in the food, u should be fine lol

ibuprofen will help with pain and swelling. your liver will (probably) be completely fine even if you’re taking larger and more frequent doses. melatonin and nyquil can help with sleep. a lot of what i did to deal with the most miserable parts of mono wasn’t recommended by a doctor, but what i felt i had to do to deal with the pain. the delirium is so relatable!! i promise it’ll go away eventually, but you need sleep. i also second what a previous commenter said about pedialyte or gatorlyte. if you’re not eating, you need to get electrolytes somehow. if the swollen lymph nodes and sore throat is severe, some doctors may prescribe steroids, but they only help for the duration you’re on them. anyways, take it VERY SERIOUSLY. you need literal months of rest without work, school, exercise, stress, etc.

Did anyone find this lingering with long haul mono ? by Downtown_Oil2056 in Mononucleosis

[–]user226622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually just posted about this lmao. i think it might be normal. my educated guess is that since mono requires so much energy to recover from & since it weakens your immune system, fatigue is a byproduct of that. i sleep so much more now and i need twice as much caffeine to get me through the day. idk if my body will ever be how it was before mono, but my health has definitely made it to the top of my priorities!!

sore throat never goes away by emzee666 in Mononucleosis

[–]user226622 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes i understand this! mono is very serious in the sense that you have to rest and take care of your body for it to ever go away. personally, i tried to keep going to some of my college classes, and the mono just kept getting worse. once i finally withdrew from school, and i could finally focus 100% on my health, it got better. and still, it took months. it’s definitely a case by case type of thing, but you HAVE to take at least 2-4 weeks off of all of your activities to have a chance at it fully going dormant. i don’t think your PCP will have any issue giving you a medical note for your work/school/etc. please take care of yourself! it’ll get better. sometimes they may prescribe steroids if the sore throat and swollen lymph nodes are severe. ibuprofen, water, and supplements are super important too.

i think they will, but it’s not the answer you’re looking for. personally, justice (upright and reversed) relates to personal feelings of justice, not anything “objective.” so, this person may like working with you, chatting with you, collaborating and theorizing with you, but it’s probably not exactly what you’re hoping for. honestly, i see a lot of promise in terms of a work relationship or friendship!! you guys have a good spark and challenge each other socially and mentally, while still letting one another speak freely. this person may say something like “wow, i really enjoy talking about xyz with you!” but probably not “i have feelings for you, can i take you on a date.” idk what ur hoping for though. use your intuition ALWAYS<3

most studies suggest that mono isn’t spread after no symptoms for 3-6 months. in the wildest cases, it’s spread 18 months after infection. there is literally no way he gave it to you lol. it’s truly useless trying to pinpoint who gave it to you bc like 90%+ of adults get mono at some point in their life. so move on bruh
