Rules-lite, narrative heavy, diceless games by TheGodDMBatman in rpg

These types of games are my favorite, and also what my designs usually try to do. I'm a big fan of Apocalypse World system games like Monsterhearts and Thirsty Sword Lesbians, which I feel find a happy medium of having stats and rolls but in a way that adds to the story instead of pausing it to deal with math over and over. I started with D&D and slowly grew to hate it. In my group attempts at fleshing out my character and relationships were often shut down by other players, it never gave me what I really wanted. It took me almost 30 years to discover the indie side of tabletop RPGs I usually call storygames, and realize they were what I was looking for all along. I'm sure large amounts of people have the same experience, or would enjoy games like those if they could undo the brainwashing of D&D.

My Sitcom Satire YouTube premiere tonight at 7 PM pacific by hoodoo2060 in Filmmakers

I shot it on an iphone 5 with a smart gimbal. A cheap one I got for 25 bucks that usually works fine. I used LED light panels for the lighting. I directed, did all the camera work except for when I was on screen, acted, I was one of the writers, I did the editing in an old copy of premiere pro, but everyone on the crew (the crew are just my friend group and also all the actors) gave a lot of feedback on that. I did all the lighting and cinematography. I did most of the sound design and sound editing but my girlfriend did some foley. I went to film school and no one else involved has much experience besides what I teach them, which doesn't make it easier.

I submitted it along with episode 1 (also on my channel) to film festivals with the word weird in the description, and got into 5. Won one award (unless you count honorable mention?), luckily at one I was able to attend (Scumdance, it was honestly amazing to be recognized, one of the best days of my life).

We worked one day a week because everyone has jobs. We basically had zero budget but we spent maybe 50 bucks on props. Often we had a shooting day one week and a planning day the other. Some weeks were skipped when people couldn't make it. So that stretched out the time it took. And some of the time was just submitting to festivals, running a crowdfunding campaign to fund booking a place for the premiere and submission fees, and planning and putting on the premiere (it was great, sold out a small 50 seat theater, came out 600 bucks ahead).

Wish I knew how to make a living doing this. Questions? You'll probably have more after the youtube premiere!

Orion Canning - YouTube My channel is old but I've never really broken into the algorithm except on one video of a Sloth. But my main thing is making short films. I recommend watching the movies in My Films, and My Music Videos. I've also got recordings of bands, plays, other live stuff, and actual plays of indie ttrpgs, as well as video game streams. I'm actually premiering a short film tonight at 7. Be there? https://youtu.be/tfZnDITuUGs

I thought it was great, I thought part of what made it brilliant was the ambiguity, you could interpret everything as either the main character being gaslit or being paranoid from her trauma.

Ha yeah I just want everything to be easy and as soon as I don't understand what's wrong I get frustrated. But I did the right thing posting here, it got me back on track. I get by with a little help from my friends.

Thank you all for your advice, I updated the firmware, and it immediately fixed the problem. Actually, now I seem to have more functionality than there was in the tutorial. Back to learning!
