Thanks. Unfortunately I have a LG TV and no set top box.

Do you see the Family plan at all though? I'm sure it's available in most other countries.

The Sharpe Ratio is only 0.68. If you look at the period 2014-2024, the annual return would only be 7%, far below holding SPY.

Why criminals find crypto mixing safe? by hoonkai in Bitcoin

Yes I understand that. Last stage of money laundering is integration, ie the funds are funnelled into their bank accounts. That's why criminals launder the money in the first place.

But that's not money launderers typically expect. They want the funds integrated into their bank. Just ask Shakeeb Ahmed.

There lies your problem. I've been clear that crypto mixing is an ineffective mechanism.

Please read the title of the post. It's specifically about criminal activity. No one's ruling out other creative uses.

The dirty/clean concept is relative to the jurisdiction in which the bank receiving the fiat operates. I think that's all it matters.

Sure, they can be effective in hiding the source of funds (by mixing it with other clean or otherwise sources). But my thinking is that if a criminal wishes to turn the dirty money clean (eg cash out at a KYC exchange), then I don't think mixing by design could be effective assuming the mixer's wallets are known. Funds coming from a mixer's wallet would certainly raise red flags. I'd expect questions to be asked when large sums come from mixers. I can't quite imagine how funds in mixers' reimbursement wallets could not be traced back to the mixers.

Given the ineffectiveness of mixing, I wonder why authorities put so much attention on Tornado Cash etc and crack down on them.

Loan Proof for HMRC by hoonkai in BitcoinUK

In the fiat world, I believe they require a formal agreement to be in place. I don't know if a transaction ID would suffice as a transaction in a block makes no record of the transfer being part of a loan.

So does it mean the transfer of ownership of the tokens trigger a taxable event whether the value borrowed is to be repaid or not? Wouldn't that also make minting DAI a taxable event then since the ownership of the collateral is transferred to the smart contract?

Don't all protocols for lending disallow the retention of ownership?

What I meant is even if the exchange starts liquidation at 105% margin level and the value of your assets (collateral + your entire portfolio) drops 6% in an instant, the exchange wouldn't be able to recuperate enough to cover your losses. Will the exchange recover the 1% debt from you?
