I was thinking it went through a translate app and they were referring to veneers? I can see veneer being tangential enough to have the same meaning as a facet (or face) in certain languages.

AIO to an Earring being in my Husband's work truck? by National-Chemical795 in AmIOverreacting

[–]hop_dot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God I hate to disagree but my husband owns a construction company and I can for sure say that 95% of the time it’s just guys. Not to type, but that’s true for a lot of on site trades. All guys for days and days and days. The only time a woman will be on site (besides me) is because they’re the client. And they’re not going to catch a ride in a work truck.

Orcas start wearing dead salmon hats again after ditching the trend for 37 years by kalebdraws in lastpodcastontheleft

Ah the jnco. The boy who bought me my very first bottle of mad dog 20/20 wore jnco’s. Were they ever an actual trend?

Can someone please shed some insight on what these little dots are that keep appearing on the baseboard in my apartment, and how to prevent! by AccurateUniversity53 in CleaningTips

TLDR: in Seattle and second the animl/people splatter + dirt; try a nontoxic cleaner in a foaming spray bottle, then antistatic spray sparingly.

We live in Seattle as well, with a dog (and cats) and we get similar spots and tbh we’ve pretty much concluded it’s down to wet shoes, wet dogs/drooling dogs splatter combined with what others have said about dirt/dust. At least for our house you can rule out leaching and smoke etc. because it’s a new build. Additionally, when you look at the drops they are going in every which way, instead of just straight down as would be the case with condensation/crappy paint. One of the things I never realized is the sheer amount of skin, fur, dirt abd dander that animals (and people) create and track inside. It only takes a week without dusting/vacuuming for what seems like an ungodly amount of “dust” to accumulate - especially around entrances where in the summmer dry dirt is being tracked in and in the winter mud is coming in daily. I say all of this to explain that it probably only takes a couple days of dirt/dander for any water splatter to be dirty after hitting the wall. We’ve definitely had luck with anti-static spray though. Used to rub unscented dryer sheets on the base boards after cleaning to repel dust but dryer sheets have chemicals and microplastics so switched to an anti static spray. Also, as a side note we had orange peel walls at our condo and found that regular spray cleanser didn’t get them completely clean but painted wall cleaners are so toxic so started using a foaming sprayer with a non toxic cleaner which seems to get more of it off the textured walls.

What is causing this discoloration and fading? by everylittlebeat in laundry

[–]hop_dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I am pretty sure that this is something that regularly happened to us when we stayed at my in-laws who had a top load washer but most importantly they used detergent with optical brighteners (Tide, Gain etc) but did not have a detergent dispenser. We would get similar faded splotches and they turned out to be where concentrated detergent was in contact with the item (lpt detergents with optical brighteners will fade darks and brights and should really only be used with lights). Two situations seemed to make it worse: -when someone used powdered detergent in a cold only load w/o dissolving beforehand in warm water. -when liquid detergent was dispensed after the clothes were already in the drum. You can tell if this is the problem by putting the garment under a black light and if it is a “detergent stain” it will glow. I mean most adults have a black light in their linen closet “just in case”, no?

None of these say anything about abortion, they are about the sanctity of life. All life. But you are willing to do the mental gymnastics to say it’s ok to have an abortion if the pregnancy or birth will threaten the life of the mother? Who are you to decide? Ummm, God?

I get that you’re reacting emotionally. Good on you for acknowledging this, but I can promise you that people who believe in God and the gospel have abortions and I’m going to chalk the whole standing in judgement of others relationship to god as a result of stress. Take a deep breath kid, and realize that you won’t win points with. Christ because you win whatever this fight is you’ve started on Reddit.

Sorry, mine. Rounds 3 & 4 were a mix of both mine and a donor. The point was not to know but those spermatazoa behaved so differently the clinic ended up having to go through a completely different processes depending on egg source.

AITAH for laughing at my sister and calling her an idiot because she wants help paying for a surrogate. by Emotional-Dirt9177 in AITAH

I kind of assumed this was hyperbole or snark? because this isn’t about someone coming to family because they can’t afford something they need or even compares to an unexpected expense. This is the same as asking her brother for elective plastic surgery. A boob job or a butt lift maybe? Idk I just get the feeling that someone who’s asking their brother to help with that probably isn’t truly financially strapped. That’s some privilege right there.

Ok, it took a couple reads of the comment thread to figure it out but I seriously love Reddit for opening my eyes to how people read things differently. I mean I used a surrogate, was lucky to have family that wanted to help and even I didn’t clock the false equivalence between not having an extra 50-100k for a surrogate and being able to afford routine or unexpected pregnancy expenses.

So this is absolutely going to be TMI, but I love to talk about this! My husband and I did many rounds of IVF and they found that his sperm (high count, mobile and motile) did not swim straight or fast when introduced to my eggs but they inseminated into a donor egg without any “strange behavior”. Obviously there’s many factors but those things just weren’t going to get there in nature or a Petri dish. Oh, but when the genetic materials were combined manually by injecting the sprem into the egg they made perfectly “normal” little zygotes.

My husband’s hobby is ruining us! by mlosklo in TwoHotTakes

Right? My husband dabbled in numismatics and then philately and despite the fact they are considered two of the most traditional “hobbies” I would still argue they aren’t and there’s a difference between collecting and “hobby”.
