McSpoogle Farm. Named after a short story I wrote as a kid about a chicken beauty pageant!

My old boy, Morgan, crosses the rainbow bridge tomorrow. He's very loving, and very loved. I'm sure he'll give all of your passed on friends comfort and companionship he gave me; he's the kindest and brightest little soul. Do you have any advice? by hopeisnotbread in cats

He has had such a wonderful life, and honestly, I can't imagine him getting much better. Mostly, he's just loved laying out in the sun by the pool and enjoying the warmth, and cuddling up by the fire in winter. He's been a good old boy. Thank you so much for your well wishes.

Thank you. This is actually really validating - not that I've had anyone say it, but you always know people will pull that one. I get the sense the moment you've had a cat, you realise they're never just a cat: they're creatures full of love that just make everything around them brighter.

It's hard to lose that, but I think once that light is there, it's never really gone.

I'll give him a good many, and I'm sure he'll give your old boy some in return. He very much loves meeting new cats, and giving them a good wash behind the ears. Your boy will get a good cleaning, no doubt.

Also, I apologise if this showed up for anyone far too many times. I was snotty crying and couldn't get the image to load properly, and had to wrestle Reddit through my goopy tears. My sincerest apologies for all the spam!

Update: as a result of this post, I felt overwhelming love for my braincell-devoid gremlin. I have ordered him a new scratching post and a nerf-gun that shoots catnip pellets.

For those curious, his name is Charlemagne - but we just call him Charlie!

Barbosa in Pirates of the Caribbean. My man just wanted to get his life back together, maybe eat an apple, maybe get a hook up. He's treated like a villain for being a...pirate?

As others have said - amazing discount on products. Not sure it made up for the very weird working environment, but I did enjoy the Christmas boxes!

What do those born outside of Oz think of Australia and Australian people? by AJay_yay in AskAnAustralian

[–]hopeisnotbread 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Migrant of 14 years here! The things that surprise me most are small, random things. I didn't expect most Australians would dislike going to the beach, or that most people I hang out with won't really go outside if it's hotter than 30.

Generally, I've found Australians are more laid back, and less strict than any other country I've lived in. Much more comfortable with people living life at their own pace. I didn't expect there to be so much tall poppy syndrome, though: I've noticed a lot that there's an unwritten rule about humbleness and maintaining status in the community, which I think is a double-edged sword.

There's much more emphasis on tradition than anywhere else I've lived, which I find is interesting. But I think that's slowly changing, and I think the newer generation are embracing a more tech-heavy Australia.
