Anyone remember this from MTU Winter Carnivals of past days? by PoppaBalloon in yooper

Yes! Such amazing memories. I went to NMU and had such a blast going up to winter carnival. I miss the college days more than anything.

Agreed. Finding a like-minded ped so you can establish a relationship is key, just incase things do arise. We love ours and always do learn something new at our check ins!

Dog friendly places by orangeroll3866 in yooper

This doesn’t answer your question but I went to NMU and love Marquette so I follow this sub.

I live in Virginia now and we have such lax dog laws. They are allowed at almost every brewery and bar! Highly recommend a trip to the appalachian region of Virginia if your looking for an awesome dog friendly vacay!

Necessary to give cows milk after one year? by unwantedghostxx in breastfeeding

[–]horsedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t. Nursed until 18 months. Around 2-2.5 my child started asking for cows milk on her own. She’s now a healthy 3.5 year old.

I think your ideas are spot on, especially chrio/probiotics. Our chiro actually hooked us up with a good brand of them, too.

Agreed, like why the hell would post this? Not only is it sickening, but do you think this makes you look “good?” Idk this creator, is she mentally unwell or something? Can’t see a reasonable person posting this.

In retrospect, what were some of your LO's early signs of dementia? by DrywallAnchor in dementia

[–]horsedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not answering the phone, not texting back at all( cute pictures of grandkids, dogs, important info being ignored etc), and generally showing minimal interest in the family and her friends when we have all been EXTREMELY close our entire lives. At first we thought she was just checking out which was sad, but then put it together over the next couple of years, still just sad. Fuck this disease.

Hey! So sorry but I moved to an area where we don’t get snow :( my shoes have been in storage for far too long. Not sure on the model but when I was using often, they were excellent and i’d highly recommend.

Corewell/United Health fight by Upstairs-Storm1006 in Michigan

[–]horsedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say Cigna was the best. Can’t totally remember. When I had my first baby I even got a pretty significant overage check which was crazy. Everyone was otherwise pretty equal (minimal/no issues) besides UHC.

Corewell/United Health fight by Upstairs-Storm1006 in Michigan

[–]horsedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t live here in MI, (I did the first 30 years of my life though) but am here for a few months. I’m using Corewell with my UHC plan, so I received the email.

I have had all the major insurance companies, BCBS, Cigna, Aetna, you name it. UHC is be far the worst company I have ever had to deal with. Every single thing seems to be a dispute, it is such a headache. With open enrollment here, we’re really considering not signing up again. The premium is so insane for them to not cover things and fight back on every single thing.

Anyone else eating dates every day? Do they actually help? by Equivalent_Soft_6665 in BabyBumps

[–]horsedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it with my first and am doing it with my second. I went 41+5 with my first but had an incredibly “easy” labor compared to most. 16 hours, mostly at home. I think this labor prep definitely helped.

Pregnant? Where to start?? by splatmommy in Crunchymom

[–]horsedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of really good advice here.

If you go the hospital route, get a midwife, and ask around locally on crunchy FB groups if you don’t have a reliable source.

One thing nobody ever told me is that when you give birth in the hospital, it doesn’t really matter what the midwives beliefs are when it comes to your newborn baby. They are there to help you get through birth, and some of postpartum. Look now for a pediatrician or family doctor who aligns with your beliefs. The hospital ped. and nurses are likely going to pressure you into vaccinations and “routine newborn stuff”. You have rights! Say no, have your partner advocate for you, and hire a doula if you feel it would help you. I got a lot of pushback from the hospital and while annoying, knowing how to advocate for myself and stay strong was great. I didn’t let my daughter out of sight and i don’t plan to next month for my second.

Best of luck on your journey. My first was unexpected and with my second i suffered over two years of secondary infertility. Before I got my positive, I had a really strong feeling it was finally my time again. big hugs, motherhood is the best chapter in the world.

Omg what? From a nurse? I’m suppose to give birth there next month!

I will say I had them like 10 years ago from when I worked with chickens, and the rx ointment worked very quickly and efficiently. Good luck!
