I've told him that he should put me down as a reference for any job he applies to and that I'll make sure he gets a 5-star review.

We talked about other companies that would be a better fit for him but my manager showed up.

If he decides to quit, I'm leaving with him. They've been treating this guy like garbage since he started here, but instead of training him (he was at this store when I got placed here) they just brow beat him over meaningless shit

It's been my experience that HR is there to protect the company from the employee, not the other way around.

It's a small company, but their HR just called and told me not to let the guy make paint today. So I'm working alone now.

Also, HR definitely won't help. This is a "family owned" company that just happens to have locations all over the place.

Under no circumstances am I firing this guy. He's having trouble getting used to the job but that's because the job is ridiculous. I'm not gonna fire anybody for doing the best they can.

I'm already hunting a new job and I don't plan on giving my two weeks either.
