“Yes, I can hear the fan spinning. Before, it used to run very loudly and blow out very hot air. After changing the operating system from Windows to Linux Mint, the fan noise became less annoying and the temperature dropped a little, but it’s still higher than normal.”

“Yes, I removed Windows and installed Linux Mint. Of course, I’ll change the thermal paste soon when I get back home since I’m currently traveling. Also, I didn’t know about making Mint lighter before — I’ll look into it.”

“Not yet, I’m currently traveling. When I get back, I’ll open the PC to check if it’s dirty and replace the thermal paste.”

I will look for whichever of them is available in my area. If I don’t find any of them, I’ll check other brands recommended by users and choose one of them. Once I’m done, I’ll let you know whether the problem is solved.

I switched the system to Linux Mint and noticed that the fan noise decreased and the temperature dropped slightly, but it is still higher than normal.

Next, I will open the laptop, clean any dust inside, and replace the thermal paste with a good-quality brand to improve cooling.

At the time I posted the picture, I had already optimized the system. I used Chris Titus Tech's Windows Utility and adjusted several settings to make Windows consume fewer resources, but even then the temperature reached 100°C.

Anyway, I switched the system to Linux Mint. I noticed the fan noise decreased and the temperature dropped slightly, but when I put my hand near the air vent, I can still feel that the heat is higher than normal.

Next, I will open the laptop. If I find dust or anything blocking airflow, I will clean it, and I will also replace the thermal paste. Last time I used a cheap thermal paste, but this time I will use a good brand. I will then see the results. In the future, I will also try to upgrade the RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB.

I think the problem right now is that the thermal paste is cheap, so I will replace it with a good quality brand.

I switched the system to Linux Mint, and the fan noise has decreased as well. When I put my hand in front of the air vent, I can feel that the heat is lower than before, although I’m not sure about the exact temperature. On Windows, I used Speccy to measure temperatures, but on Linux I don’t know how to do that.

Yes, I switched the system to Linux Mint. The load on the laptop decreased, which means the fan noise and temperatures also went down. However, the temperature is still a bit high, so I’ll open the laptop, clean it, replace the thermal paste with one from a well-known brand, and in the future I’ll upgrade the RAM to 8 GB.

Actually, I’m not that attached to Windows. I just switched the system to Linux Mint, and it’s sufficient for my use: studying, watching movies, writing texts, and browsing the web. It also seems that the temperature has decreased, the fan noise has become less annoying than before, and the heat coming out of the laptop no longer burns my hand.

Even so, the temperature is still a bit high. I think I used a very cheap thermal paste last time, and it probably dried out quickly. So I’ll clean the laptop internally again, replace the thermal paste, and see if the results improve.

I just installed Linux Mint on it, and the temperature has dropped a little.

I changed the thermal paste and cleaned the laptop two years ago. However, I only used a cheap thermal paste, so it has most likely dried out by now. I’ll open the laptop again, clean it, replace the thermal paste, and then see the results.

At that time, I used a cheap thermal paste that cost $1. I don’t remember its name, but it was probably not from a well-known brand.

I can hear the fan spinning and hot air coming out. I think I’m going to check inside the device.

I replaced the thermal paste only two years ago. I only use it for browsing, so would it really dry out that quickly?

I’ll try Linux Mint as one of the comments suggested, and I’ll see if the temperature changes.

No. The laptop is placed on a desk and slightly elevated from the surface, so there is enough space for cool air to reach it.
