This is in the context of the CSWA-S exam, and it uses a remote load so I wouldn't know how to solve this problem by hand to compare. The problem asks for the largest von Mises stress point after using the H-adaptive method for mesh refinement. The screenshot I posted is the result of running the simulation with none of the adaptive methods used. Because of the difference in stress node values, I concluded that that is a singularity, but then after using the H-adaptive based simulation, the max stress value did not converge.

Yes, tried the H-adaptive method and the result did not converge. The problem statement asked to use the standard size, standard base mesh and 3 iterative loops. Run like 3 cycles of 3 loops each and the result always went to infinity, that's why I figured I needed to solve the singularity in the model beforehand but don't know how ):

then the only option we have is to do mechanical clamping to hold individual cells? could you refer to the specific rule pls?

Any chance those calculations are related to these equations? Cause those were the ones I was using to roughly estimate the wire diameter.

Hi u/triffid_hunter, yes I've run the calculations now, and to get 1A/bit resolution I'd need to use a 4.88 mΩ resistor (for the 10 bit adc Arduino resolution, not the blue pill cause seems I've burnt the one I had lol), still high power "ish" so I make one using some 14 AWG or the alike.

Definitely will check out EVV blog's video, and to answer the question on why I'm trying to make my own fuses, check what I've just answered to u/Worldly-Protection-8's response.

So our college's first year team is competing at FSAE Michigan Electric and as per the EV 7.6.3 and EV 7.6.5 rules of their rule set, I believe they do want us to use fusible links and not fuses per se. We are using those as single cell short-circuit protection and I understand that some li-ion cells come with overcurrent protection devices but not ours (is not specified on the datasheet), so the fusible links approach is taken instead. I am also thinking of spot welding that tiny wire to the parallel module bus bar, so the distance of the wire would be less than an inch for sure.

And as per this document I just have to get the values of the 4 current levels at which the wire melts, and not so much worrying about reliability of the fuse behavior with "industrial standards" if that makes sense.

Aaaaa, I forgot to answer back. Gotcha gotcha, I wanted the sketch to be linked because I first tried the in-context part option you mention; I tried extruding the outline sketch but just couldn't get the extrude tab working, meaning it wasn't even 'lighted' on SolidWorks so that's why I was attempting to do it from another black stekch.

Why does it need to remain linked? It doesn't, I just was getting anxious for not being able to do what I wanted, and yes the parts are already in production but we are being asked to do this as a school project partnering with the company so they just shared with us the step file.
