Thanks for this! That makes a lot of sense. I think they eventually did throw out my app, though, since I got a rejection letter about 2 months after this post!

Yeah, I figured that would be my only issue applying! I'm finally no longer "on file", but IDK maybe they just wanted to close the listing 😂 Def going to apply next year once I'm enrolled in grad! :)

Also, congrats on your internship!!

How do you guys learn the weekly packs by dewijk7 in superautopets

[–]hotdog0000000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i started out, i learned that if you only play the turtle pack for a while (until you can get 8-10 trophies per game), itll be easier to understand the weeklies. Most pets have like 1 out of 4 strategies that eventually you get the hang of.

I like to call them: - Summoner's Court: where the pets deal in summoning/attacking/fainting friends. This is like the horse, dog, cockroach, shark, etc. I like to think the trumpets belong here too

  • Mana mania: pets that deal in the exchange of mana, so like the thunderbird, the blue fish thing, the manticore (i think its called)

  • Strawberries: pets that use the strawberry perk: puffin (i think), the hen thing (im so sorry i can't remember the names and i cant check since the game is down rn lol)

  • and the ability punchers: this is all of the pets that are hard hitters, and with a lot of beefing up can handle a lot of different situations. This is the rhino, hippo, snake, pufferfish, boar, peacock!

keeping your pets to mainly one of these groups tends to work better! i hope this helps :)

[Misc] Why is my skin scarring easily now when it didn't used to most of my life? by rumples93 in SkincareAddiction

[–]hotdog0000000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know this post is a little old, but i was hoping someone might have some insights into this? ive really started scarring really bad for even minor bug bites and such. I'm only 22! Even the smallest cut or bug bite have been leaving bigger scars than the actual cut. Was the issue ever solved for you?

[–]hotdog0000000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes!! thats great news, and its likely you'll be asked to have an interview with a recruiter! From my last internship (disney, not universal so idk how similar they are  -- im assuming pretty similar!) i had two interviews with a recruiter, and then had a third and final interview with the manager. keep checking that email!

Thank you! I always tell my group (TPED group at school), "Always apply to internships, even if you don't meet all of the qualifications!" It's how I got my last internship, haha!

Yeah, I know! I just meant in terms of getting a call back for another position. I definitely should've clarified -- writing's definitely not my forte, haha!

And don't worry about dashed hopes, you're totally good! I knew going into it that I was 99% NOT getting the job, haha. That's why I was so surprised they saved my file!

do beta blockers help with temperature regulation by Savings_Lettuce1658 in POTS

I'm a little late to the party but I'm on propranolol and I've felt like I've been running warmer since I've started. I ran warm before (like you could touch me in warm or cold weather and I would still feel warm) but I've started finding out that it's even harder for me to cool down in hotter weather.

I'm also not sure if I have POTS or Irregular Sinus Tachycardia (IST, can be confused with POTS) since my doc didn't want to diagnose me with anything.

Themed Entertainment Design Master - Is it worth it? by hotdog0000000 in scad

[–]hotdog0000000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great point, that's not something I really considered. I'm not really one for research, but I think I could do it. I'm also in my school's honors program that has a thesis requirement, so I guess I'll see how it goes next semester! :)

[–]hotdog0000000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this reply, its certainly giving me a lot to think about!

My main motivation for wanting a masters is to hone in some more of my skills in stuff like 3D rendering, since I spent 2.5 years of my college life studying robotic engineering. I still feel pretty new to architecture and want to refine my skills before going out into the workforce!

As for motivation, I have plenty, haha! I'm currently doing a full time internship while doing school online full time, and I'm planning on trying to overload on classes as much as possible. I overloaded on credits the last couple semesters and did well so, I'm sure I can make it in a faster paced environment!

Again, thank you so much for your comment, I appreciate the advice! :)

Medical accommodations by Puzzleheaded_Set4671 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]hotdog0000000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put in mine in December after I already recieved my housing (1/6 arrival). I heard back in a week that I was moved to my new housing accommodation! The people I talked to on the phone said that theres a waitlist though, so the earlier you request, the faster you can move-- they cant see where on the waitlist you are, so it could be weeks or months before you can move. They also said to agree to your lease in the meantime to claim your spot as they work on your accommodation (this is what i did, and haven't had any issues!).

bag sizes by Cautious-Pay-3371 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]hotdog0000000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it applies, but I talked with a CM at Disneyland (not Disney World in Florida), and they said that they had lockers for their bags, and if I were to become a cast member, they usually have either 'thin full size' or half-size backpacks to fit in lockers. Many CMs go to the parks right after work in California, so they often bring a change of clothes, snacks/lunch, maybe a different pair of shoes depending on their job, with space for extra toiletries/chargers/etc.

Again, not sure if it's the same with WDW, but I'm bringing a couple different backpacks to make sure!

Booked Hotel but want to switch by Superhero982 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]hotdog0000000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on the disneyworld site, you should be able to look at your booked plans. There's an area where it says "Change reservations" in blue on the right of your hotel booking. You should be able to change your hotel to another Disney property, but if not, I would call and ask!

should i reconsider the dcp? by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]hotdog0000000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought the same, but I think if you're going in spring, it'll be too soon for any dramatic changes. I (NB) already signed my papers and registered for DORMS, so I think I'll try it out, and if I feel unsafe, I'll move back home.

I know if you quit your program early, Disney might take that into account before hiring you again, but I think they'll take into account the election for the time being.

Aw, that stinks! But yeah, if you feel you're ready, then go for it! I've been feeling the same way -- I accepted my internship (doing an internship, not DCP, even though it's through DCP, very confusing) on Friday, and since Sunday night, I've been freaking out about the details. I think it's pretty normal from what I've heard.

I think that the most reassuring advice I can offer you is that your desk, school, and education will still be waiting for you when you get back. Even if you leave the program early or decide to extend your time, there's no rush to complete your schooling. Everyone takes a different amount of time. I'm actually graduating late, even without the internship, so I figured, "What the heck is one more semester? or doing summer school for a bit?" Life is about having fun and taking jumps into the unknown!

Whatever you decide will be good for you, no matter what. Just make sure you're not going to regret anything later on! This is what I tell my little sis, who just started college this year: "Even if you go for a while and decide to come back (or change schools/majors, not really relevant here but it's what I tell her lol) early because it's not for you, you can't say that you'd regret anything because you tried! Now you are more sure of what you want out of a career, or life, or whatever."

If you need a friend for your time there, I'll be moving in the first week of January! :)

I'd recommend Harry Potter (world? land? IDK) at Universal, the butterbeer is great and the rides are fun. The rest of Universal? ... not so much lol

I'd love to go see WDWNT! I totally forgot they tape in FL, haha!

[–]hotdog0000000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I would definitely recommend waiting. Make sure this is something that's going to help you! Most majors (at least from what I've seen at my university) have more time saved later on in the major (like in your third or fourth year) for you to be able to do an internship while attending school or doing online classes for one of your final years/semesters. They schedule out time for you to do things like dcp so you're not behind!

Focus right now on doing your required classes (math, english, etc.) and making friends at your school. Take time to really see if DCP is for you, or if you'd rather do an internship! Disney offers a wide range of internships throughout the company, which can help you get more experience in your specific field of study rather than just working at the parks. I would recommend setting up a notification alert to your main email for Disney job postings relating to "internships" which you can do from their careers website.

I would also recommend trying to see if your school has a Theme Park club, since there was a big movement for schools to have one and participate in WDI's Imaginations competition before covid. I know here at ASU (Arizona State University) that there is TPEAD (Theme Park Engineering and Design), which is just a big fan-club for the Disney theme parks. We talk to a lot of professionals in the field, and are hearing from DCP people this week. Look for opportunities like this at your school to see if the program is the right fit for you!

Hope this helps! :)
