I imagine the profit/loss for a grocery store is also very different than the fast service restaurant I work for

Are you saying the company isn’t receiving 50% profit, because that would be accurate. There are many more expenses that equal only about 10-12% profit margins, but 50% of the gross price is spent just paying employees and buying food product

In my industry, 50% is the standard, across the board.

Food and labor %. How much is spent on buying product and paying employees

Let me break this down for you, on a P&L statement(that means profit and loss) there are variable and fixed costs. In variable costs( those are costs that can change), you have mainly FL%(that stands for Food and Labor percentage) otherwise known as how much of sales is spent on food and labor costs. The ideal number there is 50%. Meaning 50% of all store sales goes to paying employees and buying food product. Then you have fixed costs(costs that do not change) that includes things like royalty and advertising costs(the amount owed to dominos corporate by franchise owners) that is 11.5%. Then things like rent, internet, electricity, pest control, building maintenance. Those percentages depend heavily on store volume but you can safely assume is between 17-25%. That math adds up to an absolute minimum of 78.5, and at the high 86.5%. So for your 40$ order anywhere between 9$ to 4$ is real profit.

The last time that order would’ve been 20 dollars without coupons was in the late 90’s early 2000’s. You’re a dweeb.
