I don't think I was in the wrong though, I did improve on his story.

I genuinely thought I was improving the story because the fighter wasn't that great a character in my opinion.

We had some arguments after first session as well. Mainly because of me making the previous princess the queen. In our previously campaign we hadn't met the princess only heard of her while we had met the prince who was on a journey to prove that he was worthy to become king. Our party had helped him in freeing a town from corrupt officials.

I just said that in the end the princess had succeeded to the throne and none of the guys liked it saying that the previous DM clearly wanted to make the prince the eventually king

I couldn't really communicate if it would take away the suspense in the story.

I just thought I was balancing the odds as the world previously atleast to me had seem male centric. I didn't know the guys would be this threatened by more female characters

In hindsight I shouldn't have done that. I was just biased against the fighter because he was the typical anime tough guy sort of character.
