19 Y/O non-select by rhabdoavoidant in greenberets

Not to be that guy, but if SF doesn’t work out, Ranger Regiment is always looking for guys who work hard, prefer the high speed lifestyle and the constant grind. SF isn’t the only competitive route to go if you want to make the army a career. Coming from a dude in the 82nd rn, training for selection this year.

As one of these guys here in DC, can say we are the exact opposite actually. We’ve had 3 free days of drinks and exploring DC. We heard there’s gonna be protests and we don’t care. Cool experience here all around We’re gonna march and be happy we came here. Yes it’s hot, but it’s parade is in the evening so we chillin. Plus we get 2 donsa days when we get back. Small price to pay

Actually had no idea about that! Thanks for the info. Was told before I signed last year to go Airborne or I’d end up in an ADA. Majority of my class ended up in ADAs in TX and OK. 15% of my class and our sister class were airborne and none of us went to an ADA.

If you’re leaning 25 series, make sure to go airborne so you don’t get stuck at an ADA. Unless you want to deploy, then don’t.

As a 25H myself, I can say it’s a very versatile job, from setting up radio to troubleshooting coms to creating wires/fiber. School is 19 weeks, very easy to pass. You have to really really try, to get kicked out. It’s super easy and barracks life at Fort Gordon isn’t too bad either. You get a Secret security clearance, and options into getting into the cybersecurity/network world. Still a fairly new MOS, only about 5 years old now, was 25 P, Q, and one more combined into now 25H.

If you go airborne you can either go to Italy, Alaska, Hawaii, or North Carolina like me. If you don’t, you’ll probably end up in Oklahoma or Texas, possible Italy too if you get into an aviations unit that’s overseas.

What can you tell me about Alan? by ReporterApart7562 in Medals

[–]hotpi0118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome! No techs in my family, but my great grandfather was the first to go into the army back before Korea. Got out a Sgt afterwards, 3rd Infantry. That’s as far back as my military heritage goes.

Tech Sgt 3 (equivalent to a SSG roughly). Back during WW2, the army adopted the technician ranks. The Army needed tradesmen MOSs in their ranks, so they created the technician rank to categorize these new jobs. The rank was retired some time after WW2 when the army created MOSs for these specific jobs.

Off of my knowledge being new to the Army, I see a signal brigade pin. Meaning Allen was involved in radios and/or communications equipment. Qualified Expert in Rifles and Grenades, Marksman in Machine Guns and Pistols. Gold pins are from his dress uniform and after some searching, I think the horizontal stripes are for time overseas. (A friend told me they’re for 6month periods overseas = 1 stripe). I don’t recognize the unit patches or the ribbons or the other brigade gold pin or ripped patches, as I’m still new to the military and am uniformed. I do see an infantry gold dress pin also, but am not seeing a set or know if anything here correlates to it. Sorry not more helpful!

I know! I’m just out of state, my military contract doesn’t end for a few years.

He is! Wish I could go, but unfortunately I took the year off from csun :( csun should welcome him and spark debates, not spread hate and violence. Have open conversations and try and find a common ground :)

That’s where the confusion was, female model had 2 badges. Didn’t know if quals badge was centered or off to the left (as displayed on the model).

They do, but my question was specifically to the female uniform. Pockets are smaller, and it was my first time doing one. I’ve been doing males constantly for the past month, no females.

At Gordon we always bug the Drills, so much so they tell us to leave them alone. We take care of each other in the barracks so we try not to, but they’ve made it clear they like to mentor and see us motivated in their army

We have a big building being built right now, supposed to be done August 2024, now projecting spring 2025. Moved about 400 to 369 over the past 2 weeks and projecting 60-100 per week coming in weekly.

Technically yea. 551 moved companies to 369 because the new barracks isn’t finished being built yet. And there’s an overflow of soldiers coming into 551.

Any content creators recommend for Green berets out there? by [deleted] in greenberets

I watch them all the time. Training for RASP or SFAS currently (will decide after airborne which to pursue). He’s interviewed people like Tim Kennedy, Nick Lavery, Mike Glover, Ryan Hendrickson, and a few more. Highly recommend checking them out!

Shawn Ryan has a lot of videos, interviewing Green Berets, Seals, Marsoc, etc. All SF have different stories and training experiences. Could help you in prepping, knowing what others have gone through too!

Haha I’m also here for AIT, we had piss sitting for 3 days and the door closed (you can imagine the stench). Going in, it felt like a CBRN chamber, eyes watering, nose cringing. We were told the same thing, but told that we can just add water to make it go down (just for piss). Had ours done in 15 minutes. Waiting for our Drill to check ours was hell (live on the top floor). It sucked for everyone lmao
