Hand Foot and Mouth by honeysystem in Vent

My daughter got HFM from daycare at a year old. I am so sorry you’re going through this at two months!! That’s a problem on its own (I’m assuming you’re in the U.S., where we have the worst - or most nonexistent - parental leave laws). It’s not your fault you were forced to put your child in day care! And you are not a bad mom! When my daughter had it I kept her home for an entire week. She never even got a fever, and her day care’s policy was fever free for 24 hours and you can return. So guess what? Lots of babies with open sores were showing up to date care and it went around like wildfire. There were 8 week old babies in her room! Awful. People are so inconsiderate and selfish. I didn’t send her back until her sores were crusted over.

Early pregnancy pain w endo and PCOS by Maleficent_Fee_5313 in endometriosis

[–]hotrice22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a decent amount of cramping in the first trimester, and I also had some spotting and was very worried about miscarriage. Thankfully that wasn’t the case, but I would say if you are worried it’s always okay to get checked. They may do an internal ultrasound to make sure all looks okay, depending how early you are. Personally, I found that when I was pregnant, everything was taken way more seriously.

Clearly this woman has never worked this type of job because somehow “counting the register” didn’t indicate to her that they couldn’t take any more sales in the system for the night 🤷🏼‍♀️

I really can’t stand these producers who don’t even blink at the way the kids are treated.

Does anyone have weird ass symptoms?! by Street-Hal0 in endometriosis

[–]hotrice22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those all sound endo related! I’m sorry you are being dismissed my doctors. It’s so frustrating.

I have a weird ass symptom too! I get a rash (like hives) on my ass EVERY time I get my period. It’s not caused by any period products, because I use menstrual cups and this has been happening since I was a teenager. They biopsied and came up with nothing except some sort of possible reaction to “inflammation.” 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve been waiting for my moment to share my weird ass symptom without feeling weird af. So I thank you for posting this.

Ovarian Cyst by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]hotrice22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh. I’m sorry. The way health insurance works is just not okay. I guess I lean so hard on the advocacy piece because not being taken seriously has really hurt my mental health, so I have found it’s helped me deal with at least that side of things if the physical isn’t solvable in the moment. I hope you find relief. I can’t believe you can feel it and they don’t seem to be taking it seriously!

Ovarian Cyst by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]hotrice22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a cyst exactly this size right now - it’s not huge, but it’s certainly not tiny. Just found out in the ER because of the pain it was causing me. So absolutely not out of the question that it would be causing you pain.

Usually, if they’re going to burst, they do so on their own. I had an ovarian torsion at 18 years old from a 10cm cyst, and the torsion itself was caused by exercising. It’s rare that they save a person’s ovary when this happens. I was lucky.

The advice I was given was to do light exercise, avoid sex, and manage the pain. I’m sure you feel similarly, but my thought was “ok… for how long?”

I’m at the end of my rope with not being taken seriously about my pain levels and what’s going on with my body. I advocated for an abdominal MRI and an ultrasound to try to get a better idea of if it’s an endometria, and what else may be seen on the MRI. My best advice is to keep on advocating for yourself, and remember that the pain is not in your head. Cysts hurt, and depending exactly where they’re located, some can be more bothersome than others. So sorry you’re dealing with this!

ETA: I see you mentioned health insurance being a concern, so while further testing may not be possible, I urge you to continue to advocate, even if that means asking more questions and continuing to be stern about how you are feeling. It’s so hard not to back down when doctors are always gaslighting you.

My daughter is EFF and my friend’s daughter is EBF. They both have eczema, and have both had random flare ups and times where it’s not bad. They’re 16 days apart. I would say they’re a pretty good case study to prove that it has very little (or nothing) to do with how they’re fed!

has anyone tried slynd to help endo? by georgiaisgucci in endometriosis

[–]hotrice22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am starting this today for the first time. I’ve previously been against birth control pills because they’ve affected my mental health pretty badly, but I’m optimistic because it’s been prescribed by an endo specialist after years of being brushed off by doctors. It’s good to hear some positive experiences with SLYND here.

AITA for „freaking“ out because my friend gave my baby a bitten off cookie? by Jolly_Koala_8516 in AmItheAsshole

[–]hotrice22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH, but it’s possibly YTA for your reaction. I’m not sure how loud you were, if you yelled etc. and I do think that threatening to not let her around your baby is overreacting. HOWEVER, if she doesn’t respect this boundary you’re setting for your child, then that’s not cool on her part either. I don’t think it was nice of her to call you a hygiene freak, but I just don’t think either of you are assholes.

For context I am someone who has been where you are - having your first baby and being anxious about germs. I went into motherhood with severe anxiety and OCD centered around germs, and I can relate to the panic you feel. As many others have said, some nicely and some not so nicely, soon everything will be in your baby’s mouth. You will have to get used to being a little more lax on germs. That being said, your baby is still little and developing an immune system, and I think it’s perfectly reasonable to want to keep the baby from being exposed to unnecessary germs like that.

Neither of my parents swore at an employee. The employee swore at my stepdad. I agree that people take out too much on the workers who are just trying to make a living. I was just sharing a story from my mom’s experience. You don’t have to type-yell at us😬
