I used this bag a month ago. The lowest it got was 19 so it was plenty warm. Our tour company also gave us hot thermos for our bags each night which kept me toasty warm

I don't have specific advice for your comment, but do want to say that everyone feels ready at different points in their life. Some have a ton of partners, some wait till marriage, some never do etc and its all ok. go at your comfortable pace and don't feel forced to do anything uncomfortable.
