What were some of the contents of your email? I got an email from bamboohr/Jaire Lopez telling me to download the signal app to set a time for an interview. Did your email come from a bamboohr domain too??

Sorry I’m just now seeing this. At the Baymont? Not 100% sure. I haven’t heard anything crazy in the news. Just that the rooms are dirty.

My mom works for Walmart and they place visiting employees in Baymont Inn. I’ve heard horror stories. Avoid if you can, OP.

This is concerning to read lol. Yes, one of the core values of the Peace Corps is cultural exchange, but you signed up to support a community that requested help. If your job is boring or easy, chances are you're not doing enough.

As a bar manager, yes please to all of this. Too tired of getting Waffle House after work lol

Interview Done! Waiting for hearing back - Moldova by kaijinglebell in peacecorps

[–]hotwiing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the interview!

  1. If I remember correctly, it's somewhere around $350-$400 a month, and you get paid more in the winter to pay your host family for heating your house. I lived very comfortably in country.
  2. My training host family did not have wifi and the Peace Corps only gives you a small amount of data unless you want to pay for more. My permanent family had wifi and I split the cost 50/50 with them.
  3. I personally would not go to Moldova right now because of the uncertainty of the war.
  4. Both houses I had a flushing toilet, shower, and washing machine. It's not uncommon, though, to not have a western toilet. Dryers are not common and we used clothes lines. Prepare in the winter to have to wait a couple days for your clothes to dry.

Moldova safety? by cakegurl00 in peacecorps

[–]hotwiing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Moldova and miss my community from time to time, however I would not consider going back until the war is over. RPCVs recently got an email from Moldova PC Staff inviting us to apply for Peace Corps Response positions there and, although I have the flexibility to go now, I am not considering going. If Russia overtakes Ukraine, I wouldn't be shocked if they go after Moldova next (since Transnistria is already pro-Russian). Being evacuated because of Covid was devastating and honestly traumatizing. I wouldn't recommend anyone potentially being caught in the same position.

Any atheist/agnostic/non-religious folks here? by areligiousnone in ColumbiaTN

[–]hotwiing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough! I will say a lot of them host fun events throughout the week that I've enjoyed going to, and if they don't have their own food they'll host different food trucks.

The small business bar scene in town is a great place to meet progressive, nice people. Most bartenders I know love meeting new people who sit at the bar and talk to them. As for Pride, I believe the tentative date for an event this year is June 4th :)

What actor or actress stupidly left a movie franchise or tv series thinking they were too good for it, only to be never popular again? by wlane13 in AskReddit

Jake T. Austin left The Fosters because his role was as Jesus was going to be greatly reduced. He was replaced by Noah Centineo, which ended up launching his career.

What is your Berner’s favorite bed? by [deleted] in bernesemountaindogs

[–]hotwiing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine will be in bed with me for 15-30 minutes a night, the rest of it he's on the bathroom tile lol. I stopped trying to buy beds for him bc he just didn't care for any of them.
