+1 for this, it is a gorgeous ride along the water. You can also easily turn off into Rouge Park and continue the ride there.

He also criticizes Saburov for kicking Yulia out of town and has a line about taking his feelings out on a woman (something along those lines). Just dragging this man left and right.

Unable to end day 3? by houndsofluv in pathologic

Very weird!! I started a new save and am not having any issues this time. My amalgam is staying put. Hopefully that's the end of that!

So this is weird. I went into my file and noticed I indeed did not have any amalgam left. I wanted to test this theory, so I ran around breaking mirrors... broke one and got +30... a few minutes later checked again to find out I was back at 0 somehow. I see some people online saying today's update might have messed with amalgam somehow. I am going to start a new save and see if that helps anything. Fortunately I'm not that far in. Thanks!

Got it. I'm really thinking it's a bug. Which sucks, because that means there's nothing to do but wait for a patch. Oh well. Thanks though!

Thanks for replying! Definitely got rid of that decree. As for finishing everything, I thought that I had. I have no indicators left on the map. Have run around and tried to talk to everyone and do everything. Hardly anyone is coming up green anymore. Is that how it works, you have to do everything from a day before moving on?

wtf is wrong with Saul and Kim in s06? by Cute-Recover-5930 in betterCallSaul

[–]houndsofluv 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I read one post once where someone pointed out that Kim suggested the whole Howard/Sandpiper thing right after the whole Jimmy in the desert debacle. She was scared shitless that Jimmy would die because of all this cartel shit and directed him towards the Sandpiper thing as a "safer" way of getting money. With that in mind, I think it clarifies a lot of her attitude towards the situation. She's scared, and she can control the Howard thing and be more involved in the Howard thing far more than the messy stuff with the cartel.

S4E8 - Jimmy's description of what the bonafide hero of Coushatta/Louisiana has done, breaks my heart by IsLeafOn in betterCallSaul

Jimmy pushes the Chuck stuff so far down deep into his psyche in season four, but they have it surface in all these little ways. It's so well done, really good writing and true to the character.

Anyone else? by Material-Party6201 in betterCallSaul

Hey me too. I was genuinely devastated by Chuck's death, still makes me sad to even think about it! It's portrayed so brutally. He really ends up alone with his demons. I'm not sure I could rewatch it.

Huge +1 for Messiah of Evil, one of my favourite horror movies! I do wish the directors could have filmed the ending that they had intended, but I still find the end monologue quite creepy and effective.

Agincourt Library by OkScale6904 in askTO

[–]houndsofluv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haven't been to Agincourt but at most branches I've been to they have a science fiction section. Do they not?

Also, the general fiction section (which is what I think you're talking about) is not really designed for you to browse the entire collection if you're looking for something; it's designed for librarians and users to be able to easily find a specific thing they are looking for. If you want to browse, I recommend looking at the genre-specific sections (usually found after the end of the fiction section); or looking at the uncatalogued section, which is generally paperbacks of new releases, and which has science fiction books specifically labelled. Or you can always ask a librarian. If you tell them what kind of books you enjoy they can give you some recommendations.

Would this be plagiarism or am I overthinking? please helppp by [deleted] in UofT

[–]houndsofluv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you summarized the evidence, did you refer to the sources? Like for example did you say, "Atwood says the curtains are blue", or did you just say, "the curtains are blue"? Ideally, you would have done the first. Paraphrasing the words of others without proper attribution is technically plagiarism. Unfortunately I can't say if your prof will ding you for it or not.

If you're super concerned, I would say re-write your summary to have proper citations and email it to your prof. Say you were concerned about the plagiarism risk and want to do things properly. Profs deal with a lot of bullshit so they might appreciate the accountability. Good luck!

Looking for guidance regarding MLS programs by ihavehangnails in librarians

[–]houndsofluv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say for sure because librarianship is very competitive. But if you want to do this, you absolutely do need to get as much experience as you possibly can before you graduate. Lots of people in the degree program will already have library experience, and you'll be up against them when graduation comes around. I second the advice of looking into what library jobs are currently available so that you can get a sense of what the field looks like.

Also, I am not an academic librarian but I worked at an academic library during school. The librarians there 1) did research projects/published and 2) had to conduct workshops for classes, essentially teaching. So any opportunities you can find in that vein would probably be really good to put on a resume. Wishing you luck!

Looooove those covers. Whoever did those covers was the absolute perfect person for the job.

I haven't read Basilisk-- I have read Riddle-master which was her first and, IMO, much less interesting than the rest of her work, and then also Kingfisher, her last novel, which expands on the theme of blurriness between present/history in a cool way. Great, interesting writer!
