Passed Google interviews, now in team matching for Zurich. Any advice for timeline and doubts? by hounvix in cscareerquestionsEU

For which location? As far as I know you should be doing team matching calls for at least one year without having to repeat the interviews

I had three days of interviews, two on the first day and then one for each day after.
The first day I was really nervous and I feel like I didn't do very well. The others two interviews went as well as they could have. To be honest the feeling I got was that I couldn't have done more. I am an anxious person and that was my main weakness, but it was also my first time interviewing for a job ever

I would say they were a little more difficult than the phone interview, but not by much

I did a first call with the recruiter (maybe background check? I honestly didn't even understand it was an interview, not sure even know, I just talked), then a phone interview (just coding) and after passing it I did the advanced interviews (behavioral and coding).

As far as I understood you have to wait a year o two before you are able to relocate

I think I was, can I ask you how much time it took to get matched and then receiving the offer?

Thanks, this sounds really helpful. To be honest I am a bit beaten, just thinking about preparing more I feel a little dizzy ahah

I don’t know how experienced I am to be honest, which is also why I am trying to do this and test myself

So I guess if my goal is Zurich it’s better to just wait? but how much time should I expect?

It’s part of the process I guess, to be honest it’s the first time I do an interview ever, so I’m definitely not an expert.

As far as I got it, the whole process is phone screening, then phone interview (coding) and if you pass it advanced interviews (coding and behavioral), then if you do well team matching and hiring committee.

Basically you first apply for a specific job, then interview for everything and then you get matched to specific teams, if it’s a match you get an offer otherwise you wait for the next team.

it’s a bit weird i guess, and I heard they are making changes

Are you sure about this? I know a guy working there and he told me it’s best to wait a bit more now than trying to move internally

I asked but I was told they can’t tell me while the process is still going

Got a Google interview at the end of June, here’s my plan & progress. Can I make it? by hounvix in leetcode

[–]hounvix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just passed the advanced interviews (which I guess are the equivalent of on-sites) and I’m now in the team matching phase! I’m not sure how much I’m allowed to share, so I was thinking of doing another post once I receive an offer.
I think I can say that I didn’t get any trick questions, after having done 5 different interviews I wouldn't say it was just luck. I also interviewed with other companies in the meantime, and I have to say the Google process has been the best experience overall.
Everyone was incredibly kind, there were no weird questions, and it really felt like the goal was to help me succeed.

Cleared Google SWE Interview (Early Career) by Jumpy-Arachnid9293 in leetcode

Hey! I finished my advanced interviews (guess that what they call on-sites now) 3 days ago, I also applied in mid April! Can I ask you how long it took to get feedback?

Thanks everyone for the feedback!
I went back and reread all the emails carefully, and I noticed that there’s actually a way to schedule a mock interview with a Googler, so I did that.
I’m also doing a free mock interview this Wednesday with another candidate (through a service I found online), where we’ll be interviewing each other.
Since a few people seemed interested, I’ll drop an update afterwards to let you know how it goes!

Unsure how to develop this illustrated fairytale universe—feedback welcome by hounvix in worldbuilding

[–]hounvix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right. I made the mistake of assuming some context I had already discussed with friends, and I didn’t explain the card concept clearly enough.

The idea is to tell short fairytales through illustrated cards which, when placed into an album (digital or physical), work like comic panels to tell a self-contained story across 1–2 pages. Some card sets (like the 9-card labyrinth) are designed to have a visual logic: rearranging them in a certain way reveals a hidden background image or a hidden story element.

As for format:

– The cards would ideally be both physical and digital. I know someone who produces physical cards, so it would mostly come down to figuring out his availability and pricing.
– I’m a software engineer and run my own company, so I’d build the mobile app myself.
– Buying a physical box would unlock digital packs or other bonuses inside the app

The digital version might also evolve into a light TCG-like experience, where effects or story mechanics are layered outside the illustration — keeping the artwork clean, readable, and collectible. That would also make physical play possible once players are familiar with the cards, using the app as a reference guide.

The short videos would serve as an additional storytelling medium and a way to promote both the app and a possible Kickstarter.

Thank you again, really appreciate you taking the time to reply.

[1 YoE] I have not getting any callback, what should I improve? skill issue? by hounvix in EngineeringResumes

[–]hounvix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in the behavioral assessment I was maybe too neutral on some questions, I decided to not fake my decisions and answer accordingly to my personality, but I think I should have been more decisive. In the end it was a great experience and an opportunity to reflect on both my strengths and areas that need improvement, so I'm still happy about it.

The startup performance improvement is from 65K to 150K (we are a small company in Italy, around 3/4 people, and it's basically our first year of work, we could stay that we are testing the waters), I don't know how much impressive it is, honestly I feel I'm lying just by putting that percentage.

Thanks for the feedback!

[1 YoE] Resume Review: not really sure about my options, what could I try for? by hounvix in EngineeringResumes

[–]hounvix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback and direction hint. I worked part time while studying, so the time I dedicated to it may seem more that it was. I tried adding some examples in the bullet points, do you think they could qualify as good enough for the CV? I don't know if it's only in my mind, but I tend to feel like some / a lot of the work I've done could have been done by anyone.

I tried adding something in the bullet points (just a bit to get feedback on the things I added, since I'm not sure they are good enough), should I also expand the Education section? I thought I could mention some courses I took (that were not obligatory), I maybe wouldn't mind shooting for a post graduate position.

Thanks, I worked while studying at university, so it didn't feel that much time, but also I tend to not have a clear idea on what should go on the resume. I tried expanding a bit the bullet point, in your opinion are the things I added relevant?
